Well paced, good selection of pieces
I played keyboard and recorder (badly) as a kid so can just about read treble clef. I've used this book to get into piano at 42. It's been useful to refresh my memory on treble clef, and to start learning bass clef, as most piece have the notes labelled with letters (C, D, E etc) at the bottom of the stave. This is a mixed blessing, though, as the temptation is to just read the letters and not get familiar with the notes. I had to force myself to ignore them in places to learn bass clef. Each page has a QR code with a link to a youtube video, which is helpful for the later pieces when you want to hear the rhythm before playing. You can't just use this book and expect everything to work out, it does take some thinking and effort, but overall I found it really useful.

Perfect for adult learners
I am a 49 year old male (soon to be 50) who has recently purchased a piano with the hope of having a fair idea of how to play it before I reach my mid 50s. The title of the book says it all. After a night of reading the first few pages I was hooked on the theory which has started to make sense already after just a week of playing the basic Melodie’s and watching out how the notes appeared on the treble and the bass staves. (I am impressed that this book has got me as far as I have after just a few songs) The ease of taking a photo of the QR code to take you to the song example on you tube is a breeze too and helps me to choose the songs I am aiming to play. Perhaps the “Entertainer” at week two may be a bit ambitious, as I write this …however the book really has helped this far, so I figure why not give it a go. I will continue inevitably to make mistakes but that is what learning is for and this book offers the much needed motivation. Highly recommended and covers a fair amount of detail, yet not too much to bamboozle a newbie. Thank you to the author for a well written peice of work.

Really basic.
I'm a guitar player and I wanted to get started on Piano. I'm okay with theory and was looking for something to kickstart learning the piano, form good habits from the outset and set me on path I would inspire me to keep practicing. This book was not for me. It reminds of some of the music books I used when I started guitar. the first seciton is basic music theory - time signatures, note values and so on. There is very little on how to apply it to piano. The practice section is loaded with songs no one brought up on rock and blues would ever want to play. I would rather have more practical teaching - chord charts and chord theory and fewer songs.
