Great Choice for Sports and Wildlife
The Canon EOS R7 has emerged as a serious contender in the APS-C mirrorless camera market, offering a compelling blend of speed, resolution, and advanced features inherited from its full-frame siblings. It’s a camera that particularly shines for sports, wildlife, and action photography, thanks to its exceptional performance and unique sensor crop. The R7's heart is a 32.5-megapixel APS-C sensor, which provides an excellent balance of resolution and low-light performance. What truly sets it apart, however, is its speed. With a mechanical shutter capable of shooting at 15fps and a silent electronic shutter that can reach a blistering 30fps, it's a beast for capturing fast-moving subjects. The autofocus system is another standout feature, leveraging the same deep-learning AI and subject recognition as higher-end Canon R series cameras. It's incredibly effective at tracking people, animals, and vehicles, locking onto the eye with impressive accuracy and tenacity. This makes it a "game-changer" for wildlife and sports photographers who need a high keeper rate for those critical moments. The in-body image stabilization (IBIS) is also highly effective, providing up to 8 stops of shake suppression when used with compatible lenses, which is a massive benefit for handheld shooting in low light or with long telephoto lenses. The R7's body is robust and well-built, with a deep, comfortable handgrip that feels secure even with larger lenses attached. The control layout is familiar to Canon users, though some reviewers noted the slightly unconventional placement of the rear dial around the focus joystick. The fully articulating touchscreen is bright, responsive, and a joy to use for both stills and video, while the electronic viewfinder (EVF), while not the highest resolution on the market, is clear and responsive. The dual UHS-II SD card slots are a welcome feature, providing a reliable backup for professionals. The "APS-C Advantage" and Lens Ecosystem The R7's APS-C sensor, with its 1.6x crop factor, is a huge benefit for photographers who need extra reach. A 200mm lens on the R7 effectively becomes a 320mm lens, making it an ideal choice for wildlife and bird photography without the need for an ultra-long, heavy, and expensive telephoto lens. However, the Canon RF-S lens lineup, specifically designed for APS-C, is still growing. While you can use any full-frame RF lens or adapt EF lenses, a limited selection of native RF-S lenses means that users may not always get the full benefit of a compact and lightweight system. The Canon EOS R7 is a fantastic camera that offers exceptional value, particularly for action-oriented photographers. It packs a professional-grade autofocus system, blazing-fast burst shooting, and a high-resolution sensor into a body that is both comfortable to use and a joy to shoot with. While the RF-S lens ecosystem is still maturing, the R7's performance and features make it a top choice for anyone looking to get serious about sports, wildlife, or even general-purpose photography and video.

Fantastic camera
A fantastic camera - quality of pictures is excellent, great auto focus and the shutter speed would rival cameras at twice the price. The electronic viewfinder quality is also great - maybe not the best you'll find but it's certainly clear and visible. The fold out screen at the back is handy for taking video or shots from difficult positions. Dual memory card slot for backups of all important pictures. The RF lens mount doesn't have the widest range available but the kit lens will cover a lot for starters and new lenses are coming out all the time.

Amazing camera
Fantastic camera. Fast, full of useful features to use now or grow into. I can definitely recommend it. The only thing I would say is that if you are moving from a dslr to mirrorless, the image via the viewfinder is a littler ‘digital’. Remember, if you are buying an adapter EF to RF make sure you buy the canon one. Others will not always carry all the electronics and functions. The canon adapter with EF lenses work fine with no loss of quality. This is important as there are many other third party adapters that are much cheaper. Get the canon one to be sure of keeping all functions.

Got it for work
I’ve bought this product to use at work and so far it’s been great, intuitive to use, great camera quality, lots of functionality and control options. It’s on the expensive side, as I also own an r50 that does a similar job with the picture quality, but is much smaller and lighter.

Delighted
Only had the camera for three weeks. A little bit of learning to go through to get used to differences to buttons and dials, a much more comprehensive menu system to get to grips with but not an issue. Just completed an inside shoot of a school performance (400 plus shots) and the results - colour, detail, focus - are excellent, with most of the shots taken at more than 20 metres using a Canon EFS 50/250mm lens. I was delighted! The mount adapter is a little pricey but it does mean my Canon EF/EFS lenses collected over a number of years can be used without issue so avoiding significant expense. It is light to handle. If you are thinking of buying one - Stop, just get it!
