The United States Marine Corps Workout, Revised Edition Review: If you are into physical fitness you should check out the Official Marine Corp workout book. - I have been into physical fitness all my life and even though I am a senior citizen I still workout hard six days a week. I have probably tried just about every fitness program I could find over the years; however, my favorite kinds of fitness programs have come from the military programs. I have recently purchased many of the “Five Star Fitness Guides” and just finished reading this 203 page hardcover (The United States Marine Corps Workout researched by Andrew Flach and photographed by Peter Field Peck) book at a bargain price on desertcart. This amazing book explains a great detail the history of the Marines, their philosophy, principles and their physical fitness standards. This easy to follow text is organized into four parts. Part one covers the introduction to this five star military fitness series, and the U.S. Marines: Past and present. The second part explains all about recruit training which includes: Welcome to U.S.M. Boot camp, recruit physical training, close-up circuit course, close-up recruit obstacle course and close-up combat water survival training. The third part explores officers’ training and shows their physical training course, their stamina course and confidence course. The final part shows the daily 16 exercises routine, rifle PT (which we also did in the U.S. Navy Boot Camp program where I served many years ago), and workout schedules. There is also an excellent nutrition section, a leadership principles section and a glossary. Marine Corp recruitment information is also in this end section of the book. The exercises are challenging and rugged which is what you should expect from a Marine Corp physical training program. Whether you desire to join the Marines or just want to get into top physical shape, you should check out this very informative book. Rating: 5 Stars. Joseph J. Truncale (Author: Tactical Principles of the most effective combative systems). Review: It's a good manual for a younger person's game. - I bought this by mistake but I kept it and reviewed anyway. Good guidance for poolies and anyone looking for a fitness program. This will get you there.....provided you are still younger than 40 years old. If you are 40 plus, keep shopping because all the SOF, SEAL, and manuals such as this don't much allow for "old man points."

Great book
I think the book is excellent for anyone interested in personal fitness, regardless of whether or not they have joined or will join the marine corp. The stretches, explanations, and workouts seem to be carefully reviewed by professional physiologists and excercise scientists, but I dont know if that is really the case. the nutritional information is solid. It gives insights into boot camp and the marines life.

Now I need a book on cadences!
As a former Marine this little workout book caught my attention. I purchased it mainly for the Daily 16. The Corps adopted the Daily 16 after I left the military but I have heard a lot of great things about it and thought I would give it a shot. The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is due to material that doesn't really need to be included with the workouts listed in the book. Things like the obstacle courses and so forth. There is no way I can set up o-courses at my house. All in all it is a well done book, easy and quick to read through. Pictures are excellent. I would recommend this book to any one eager to give the Daily 16 a shot. Semper Fi!

Its old edition. The paper quality is poor. The content is easily available on net. Not really needed as you get all information free by searching on net.
