a Remake but a good one for a change.
Although, Normally I like allot of people old enough to remember the original Classic TV or Films.I normally don't like remakes or reboots of them! BUT the one was a great film remake or the TV series idea!Great cast, good story, good effects too.Picking Gary Oldman for the bad scientist Dr Smith was a great actor choice.. Not a easy role to play? But he did a great job of it. The rest of the top actor cast were also good in their roles.3 very sexy female actors for Mrs Robinson and her daughter's made it even better to watch.I recommend this film to all sci-fi nuts like me : )

As a solo film or a huge nostalgia hit, I would definitely recommend watching
Not sure if this is an important factor, but I never watched the original series either, so for me this was just a standalone film and that's what I'm going to review it as.Watched this film as a kid and loved it then, so when I saw that it was on Prime I had to give it another go just for nostalgia. Effects for the time were great, and it's still watchable today. As far as cast goes, most people will see Matt as just a space Joey but this was my first time seeing him on the screen so can't really relate to that. Everyone else was superb, although again a lot of that is probably nostalgia but I can see how others watching the film could find flaws, it's definitely not perfect. If you're not too fussed about some aged effects, and don't relate it to the series then I would definitely recommend watching this film.

Caution Spoilers!!!! A great film!
This is one of those films, you either love or hate it. I never watched the Lost in Space series so never knew what to expect and I really love this film! The cast is strong with Matt Le Blanc, Gary Oldman, William Hurt, Heather Graham, Mimi Rogers and a young Lacey Chabert. The family get sent on a mission to colonise a distant planet and Gary Oldman sets out to destroy the ship using a robot but he gets caught on the ship after being betrayed by the people who hired him. Chaos ensues and the robot destroys the controls and the family awake from cryosleep. They end up getting caught in the gravitational pull of the sun and have to use the hyperdrive to escape. This causes chaos and they become lost and come across 2 abandoned ships and from these they believe these people have collanised the planet without them. Their ship gets damaged by the spider aliens on these abandoned ships and they crash land on a planet and set about fixing it. Once there they come across distortions in space and time, caused by future versions of the son and Gary Oldman. They set about rectifying this and come out alive the other end.Its a really good film, cast are great, I really enjoy watching it. I think the key is not taking it too seriously.

Just ok
Starts out reasonably promising but turns into way too much far fetchedness on top of farfetchedness for our real world in 2058. 'Alien' type horror, which was unpleasant and scary for someone who is a big scardie cat like me, but probably very mild for most to be fair... Good special effects for 1998 and original concepts in story, but overall just barely ok.2.5 stars

I Forgot How Bad This Was !
A Sci-Fi Adventure with Gary Oldman and Joey !!! How could that NOT work ???Well it doesn't ! And William Hurt not only sleepwalks through the film...but sometimes I thought he was ACTUALLY asleep.Oh Gary...how could you be in this film !

New ways to get 'Lost' in space
A magnificent modern version of the Classic TV series.Would have been great if they had made a modern series based on the old ones. With modern technology, they could outdo even Star Trek as a family series.
