Excellent value sub
I wanted to upgrade my old AIWA subwoofer and have been searching for a while when I came across this one. I needed connections that would allow me to feed the speaker outputs directly into it from my vintage amplifier and then use the subs speaker outputs to connect to the speakers. None of my old amps have a dedicated subwoofer output so this was essential. Well this one has it all and allowed the connections to be made, as described. When searching, the nearest retailer price I could find was £200, Amazon was £114 including prime delivery! On arrival it was very well packaged so no damage etc. Out of the box, connected up and works great. Independent frequency crossover, phase and volume controls allow fine adjustments to get it just right and matched with my Wharfedale Diamond 9.1’s. Placement is not critical with a sub, in the same way that stereo speakers have to be. Mine is sited off to the right of my listening position and works just fine. Speaker grill is magnetically attached to the cabinet and is very easy to attach or remove, it looks good with grill on or off IMO. All controls are at the rear and one set up, can just be left alone. I leave mine switched on permanently, connected to an audio timer along with the rest of the system. Using the auto switch on function means when power is switched on,the sub springs into life without the need for any manual input, it also switches off when power is disconnected, I like that.It is supplied with very nice speaker cones for the base which just screw in and have a slight range of adjustment if your floors are uneven. It comes with a separate IEC plug lead which means you can extend the mains lead if needed or upgrade the lead to a higher quality if you want. A separate purchase required for an upgraded lead obviously. Good quality 4mm banana plug binding posts for speaker inputs/outputs which are bare wire/spade/banana plug compatible is a nice feature. Sound is great, in theory, you should not be able to hear it, seamlessly integrating into the overall sound, with the range of adjustments on the sub, this is easily achieved. Just check out the lower frequency range of your speakers, then set the crossover on the sub slightly higher than that point. The sub then takes over the bass taking it to a lower level, fine tuning from there will get it just right!Quality fit, finish and performance are excellent, a British audio company too, what’s not to like! Highly recommended especially at this lower price, providing great value for money.

Perfect punch but not thunderous bass
Excellent build quality from Roth. Only used the amp for a day so will take some bedding I - but generally very happy with the performance. Musically it's perfect and picks up where my KEF 2000's stop. Film wise it was excellent and very clear playing The Martian, but didn't produve room shaking sub bass by any means, more punchy. So in summary,if you're looking for sofa shaking thunderous bass for all out action movirs....I'd look elsewhere. If you're looking for sonic clarity and a perfect musical accompaniment to your system, I'd highly recommended the Roth.

Broken after little use
Yes its well built, powerful and smart looking. But after only a week using in a proper home cinema set up (2 subs) - the cone is broken - any deep bass notes result in horrible "clacking noise". The primary Sub I have - a now 3 year old BK Gemini continues to work fine. The Roth is in for repair under guarantee. Not year if it will last as long as the BK .......and know it hasnt been hammered (levels set using Audyssey XT32)

Great for the money
I struggled to find any reviews for this product but they are a UK company with some good reviews of their other speakers so I thought I'd take the plunge. Really glad that I did. This is replacing a B&W PV1 which expired (with a strange "tick tick tick" noise) and although it doesn't look as cool I've been impressed by the sound quality given that it is 1/4 of the price. It is used in conjunction with a Yamaha YSP-4100 sound bar and with the appropriate settings (basically passing all the <120Hz bass to the sub) and it sounds great on movies (in a 20 x 14 ft room) adding a lot of extension without sounding overblown. All in all this is a great buy at the price. Build quality and sound are fantastic for the money. Definitely give it a try if you are looking for a budget sub with some oomph.

I recommend this totally.....
Exudes quality and build, and fantastic value for what these cost at under £240. Lovely controlled sound that does not lose it like my old unit did, that this is replacing. I always felt with my old unit that it needed to be lower in the sound setup, being forced to keep it at a minimum volume. Not this one...it's a great replacement and the bass is tight, controlled and rich sounding. It turns off after 10 mins or so, and is a good size, very neat footprint, and nice magnetic grill that just snaps into place. Good controls at the back too. I recommend this totally.

Buy two for stereo music listening
Much is said online about the benefits of having two subwoofers for music listening, well now you can afford to have this at a sensible price. I have a totr cinema amp and front speakers and having one Roth sub added to my normal music listening, so I bought another to create stereo subs. At this price why not. REL make a t7i sub that is also 8" 200Watts, is 1kg heavier but for many times the price and a similar outcome I assume.I have tried four subwoofers in my system including B&W PV1 and Forcefield 3 and this is actually musically compatible. It is rated down to 40Hz but I have tested all of my music with the lowest frequencies and all I want is heard and felt. Enjoy

I also own a Velodyne costing five times as much. This product performs identically, is better finished, incredibly well constructed and outstanding value for money.
