Quality Built Hunting Knife
This is a great knife at a reasonable price. I originally purchased one of these knives more than 10+ years ago and have been very impressed with the quality of its workmanship. This knife has weathered many hunting seasons in honorable fashion, which is indicative of American built pride. The handle is perfect in size as it allows plenty of surface area for a proper grip while cleaning game, etc., I have found the grip material comfortable, slip resistant, and it looks as good as when I bought it several years ago. The blade has also proven sturdy and retains a great edge. This knife has been subjected to the rigors of normal hunting elements/tasks and has held up well. The blade has always been cleaned after use and it has resisted rust and stains despite many years of use. I would recommend this knife to anyone looking for a quality built, durable, American Made Hunting Knife.NOTE: I recently purchased two more of these knives to give as gifts. The order was received quickly in just a few days.

My fourth Gator purchase since I have liked them so well.
Great knife! Skinned and cut up an Elk with my new knife this fall. I’ve had the Gerber gator mate for more than 10 years. It’s a fantastic hunting knife. I’ve done great with the smaller knife and it fits comfortably in my blue jeans pocket. I bought two more for my hunting partners this year and saw the clip point full-size gator was on sale so I decided to buy myself the bigger version. I really enjoyed it. Comfortable in my hand, the rubberized nonstick surface makes for a great grip and it’s comfortable to use. So many knives with Hard or Sharp handle edges start to dig into your hand when you use them for a long time. This knife works great.I haven’t decided which one I like better, the full-size gator with the clip point or the gator mate with the clip point. If you have small hands go with the gator mate. Otherwise decide how you’re going to carry it, if you want to carry it in your bluejeans pocket go with the smaller one. If you like to carry your knife in your pack or your jacket pocket then you might want to go with the full-size gator. Of course they come with the shoes you can put on your belt too. I like the clip point, it’s easier to pierce the hide with that then the drop point. Just my personal preference. Fantastic functional knife Great gift for someone who’s going to put a knife to good use.

Excellent knife
This has been my favourite knife ever. The blade is very sharp, but beware that it is not hard steel. Great handle. I wish they were making them still.

Perfect lightweight hunting knife
I don’t need a big Bowie knife for my hunting needs and weight is a big thing while working through the hills and canyons of western Texas. This knife is strong and retains a great edge. It’s lightweight enough to mount on a sling or backpack strap. I used zip ties to mount mine on my sling and I don’t even notice it’s there until I need it. I liked it so much I bought another for my pack. Combined with my Swiss Army knife I have all the tools I need for field dressing and quartering whatever I am hunting.

Best pocketknife.....ever!
Knife is great; it arrived sharp and with a case. The knife itself is made in Portland but the case is made in China. I had a couple of these same knives years ago and the shape of the knife was always the same with minor changes made in the actual labeling on the blade itself. I believe a previous version of this same knife had a hardness rating stamped on the blade of "650." This latest version is not stamped on the blade but the package indicates it's a 440 hardness IIRC. Also worth mentioning is the case quality. The latest case is nowhere near as good as the previous versions. It is very stiff and does not close easily around the knife. Previous versions were a thick Cordura material which was likely more durable. Gerber probably changed suppliers and went cheaper on the case for better profit. Other than that, it's a solid knife and I'm sure I will get years of service out of it just like the others I had before. My advice: Buy it!

Best folder for the price period
This knife is absolutely perfect. Great weight and feel, grip is secure and blade lock is responsive and sturdy. Finally lost one I had since 1997 and replaced it with this one. Can't say enough about uses for this blade. Booger to get it sharp after initial edge wears. That being said, once you get the angle right, the edge lasts quite a while. Highly recommended

great knife and seller knows it!
This is a fantastic knife. It's well balanced and feels good in your hand, and the blade is quite sharp and very sturdy. It is worth $32, but I bought it for $19, and that is the only reason I didn't give this item 5 stars. It is large and impressive looking, and it has never failed to cut anything. The tip does not deform either, even after stabbing it into many hard surfaces to prove how sharp it is. This knife will easily stick into a hardwood surface far enough that it is difficult to remove. The back-locking closing mechanism is, in my opinion, better than the standard type found on most other pocket knives in this price range. This knife has become a constant companion, and one of the most reliable tools I own.
