Excellent Battery Tender/Maintainer and decent battery charger
Excellent Battery Tender/Maintainer and decent battery charger. While this charger will only do 1.5amps, it can reliably charge just about any large battery, deeply discharged or not if given enough time. Just remember, 1.5amp = 1.5 amps per hour so at a minimum, a 50AH battery could take over 24 hours to charge from a completely discharged state (less than 11V). The biggest benefit/feature of this charger is to inexpensively desulfate and maintain your batteries. Yes batteries because you can buy a Y splitter and maintain multiple batteries at a time. It's great that they've included onboard temperature compensation as the previous low cost battery minder chargers didn't have such a feature, making this the ultimate low cost battery charger/tender/desulfator on the market today. I've had great experience with the BatteryMINDer brand of chargers. Though it can't recover every single bad battery you come across, for those that it can recover, it does an excellent job. I have the original battery in a 2004 Volvo S60 that is located in the trunk, so it's not exposed to much heat, and thanks to this charger, I was able to recover it. The car spends most of its time parked so what must have happened was the plates got heavily sulfated due it spending extended periods of time in a state of discharge. The battery after a full charge would reach 12.7v which indicates a healthy battery but after using the headlights for about 30s to remove the surface charge, the battery would revert to 11.9V which indicates an unhealthy battery. The car would crank over fine but knowing that the battery didn't have much reserve capacity was worrisome. So after about 3 months with the batteryminder tending to the battery, the battery in this car now has a much healthier resting voltage of 12.5V, a major increase in reserve capacity. Update: Took the BatteryMINDer 1500 off a car I was tending (the one I mentioned with a resting voltage of 12.5v) to use it on another car battery that needed some work. Came back a month later, and I saw that instead of a 12.5V resting voltage, it now has a 12.65v resting voltage, despite the parasitic load! So I guess the battery has improved to the point to where the reserve capacity is like new again. The charger had been tending to this car for about a year now but having that improvement from 12.5V to 12.65 means I've got 94% of the battery's original reserve capacity.

WOO HOO!!!!! Been waiting for this product! No more Battery Tender.
I love the Battery Minder. I have two of the larger units for the tractor and motorcycle. For vehicles that sit all winter and only have limited use in the good weather, I was going through batteries every 5-7 years even pulling them in the winter and putting them on a "Battery Tender". When I redid the garage in 2008, I installed my first Battery Minder for the motorcycle. I have it so that as soon as the bike is parked I can quickly just plug the SAE end into a port on the bike. I'm still using that battery and it is over 11 years old now. The tractor got a similar setup in 2012 so that I can just plug it in when parked. That battery is now 8 years old and going strong. I still had one of the old "wall wart" Battery Tenders for a couple other 12v batteries for various equipment. While it kept them charged, they did not have the life I see in my Battery Minder protected items. So, not having space to mount a larger unit, I saw this product and took a chance. I have an old "wheelchair" style battery that was likely going to be replaced this year. I use it to power the lifting mechanism of my DR Grader and it didn't do very well last fall when I graded the 1/4 mile gravel driveway before winter. I only had the battery (it was fully charged) on the Battery Minder for about 10 days when I grabbed it to smooth the driveway again. Maybe it was a bit warmer this time. Maybe it got a better connection. Maybe it wasn't in need of replacement, but the battery was still working strong after a rather extended grading session of nearly 2 hours. I truly believe that the Battery Minder does what it says. That whatever the conditioning mechanism is just works. it is far far better in my mind than the Battery Tender brand. And much cheaper than buying batteries.

Works
I was having issues with my 4 wheeler not starting. I keep this on whenever I'm not using it and it always starts right up now and I haven't noticed a huge increase in my electric bill.

Great for long-term Battery Maintenance and Storage
After one year of use, I have found this to be my best Battery Maintenance and Storage system for Sealed and Flooded LeadAcid Batteries. Pro's: 1. Smart, Reliable and Automatic: This unit has a timer-controlled multistage algorithm including: Battery Check, Constant Current Charge, Conditioning Charge, Desulfation Check, and long-term Constant Voltage Float Charge. It works flawlessly for both Automative Starter Batteries and Sealed AGM batteries. I can leave the charger attached for months without fear of 'cooking' the battery. 2. Does produce a 5Amp 'DeSulfation' Pulse which may be effective in reviving and/or preventing mild Sulfation. Con's: 1. Limited Success in Reviving Various Sealed and Starter Batteries: Overcharged (Vented) AGM Sealed batteries had little or not improvement. 'Worn' Starter Batteries did not improve AmpHour Capacity after weeks of "Desulfation" by the charger. Obviously, only a fraction of 'bad' batteries have only 'mild' sulfating problems. The majority have severe capacity loss due to: Vibration Damage, Electrolyte Loss, Grid Corrosion and/or Severe Sulfation; all of which cannot be fixed. 2. Not suited for "Cycle Charging": Since this only charges at 1.5Amps, it takes too long to charge Auto Batteries (Typical Capacity is about 20-60 AmpHours). Furthermore, some AGM batteries such as ODESSEY, require greater than 40% of the AmpHour Capacity Charge Rates when significantly discharged (for example, 28AmpHr Battery needs to be charged at a minimum of 10.7 Amps). Overall, this is my Charger for long-term storage and battery maintenance. But I still need a higher current charger for DeepCycle charging. The best way to prolong LeadAcid Battery life is to use the recommended ConstantCurrent/ConstantVoltage two step charging process which prevents Overcharge Damage by limiting Charging Voltage below 15V and by maintaining the battery charge to reduce sulfating by maintaining the battery voltage at a constant voltage of 13.2 to 13.5V. This charger does this reliably.

Gentleness and Persistence Beats Brute Force
In my opinion, this is a great product. I’ve already purchased two of them, and their frequency-pulse desulfation algorithm appears to work very well. I sometimes go 3–5 days without driving, and in those conditions, low current and persistence are absolutely key. One major advantage is that I don’t need to disconnect the battery from the vehicle. I simply connect the maintainer and leave it on for periods of 5–10 hours as needed. Here’s the thing: For both charging and desulfation, dong so at a lower current for a much longer period of time is preferable over trying to speed things up. If you consistently monitor your battery’s state of charge—as you should—then, except in extraordinary cases, you’ll find yourself using a maintainer 90% of the time and almost never needing a charger. Most sulfation in real-world batteries is “soft” sulfation caused by partial charge and sitting, not hard crystalline damage. For soft sulfation, a low-current maintainer (1–2A) with an advanced frequency-pulse desulfation algorithm is far preferable to brute force or overly complex charging strategies. Long-term float charging with mild pulsing and tightly controlled voltage gives sulfate crystals time to dissolve naturally. Voltage accuracy during float charging is critical, and this is where I think maintainers like this one excel. I’ve also come to realize that expensive “smart” chargers can be too algorithm-driven. They rely heavily on voltage-response models to determine battery health and charge state. If a battery behaves outside expected parameters, the charger may prematurely reduce current or stop altogether! It’s well worth investing time in understanding sulfation and the problems it causes. My goal is to reverse the trend of replacing batteries every 2–3 years and get back to a more reasonable 5–6 year replacement cycle.

Battery Minder is where to go for protecting your battery life.
I've been using Battery Minder products for several decades. I used them on a work truck which sat unused for weeks at a time. I've used a dual circuit on an RV for years. And I use this special one on a motorcycles which also sometime sits for months. THEY DO NOT CHARGE UNLESS THE BATTERY NEEDS IT ! This protects the chemistry of the battery.
