10Gtek AOC: The Solution for Stubborn 10G Connectivity
This 10Gtek Active Optical Cable (AOC) proved to be the reliable, high-speed connection I needed, especially after facing compatibility issues with other brands. Quality and Durability: The cable arrived meticulously packaged, protected in an ESD bag with caps shielding the transceivers and neatly secured by four Velcro straps. This attention to detail speaks to the overall quality of the product. The fiber optic itself is surprisingly flexible yet feels robust, contributing to the perceived durability. Although this was my first time managing fiber, I found it easy to handle and straighten out without worrying about kinking or damage. The transceivers inserted into the SFP+ ports smoothly and the pull tabs are sufficiently long, which is great for removal, even in my non-standard rack setup (though mine slightly hit the door, the fiber remained safely unbent). Performance and Compatibility: Where Direct Attach Copper (DAC) cables failed due to the TP-Link BE800 router's selective nature, this AOC cable worked flawlessly with the router and my Netgear managed switch. It provided the critical 10GbE link I was aiming for. Testing the data speed from a 2.5Gb client through the router and switch to my 10Gb server showed fast and stable results, hitting around 2300 Mbps down (with a slightly lower upload—I suspect a bottleneck in the server's existing CAT5e wiring, which is next on my upgrade list). This reliable, high-speed performance makes the AOC an exceptional solution for tricky hardware combinations. Value and Longevity: Given its superior quality, immediate compatibility, and successful high-speed performance where copper failed, this cable offers excellent value for money. Since it resolves a major compatibility issue while delivering stable 10G connectivity, I anticipate great longevity from this vital link in my network infrastructure. The overall look is clean, professional, and well-suited for rack installation. Highly recommended for reliable 10G links, especially when dealing with selective networking gear like the TP-Link BE800.

Fast, sturdy and reliable
Great AOC cable and does 10Gb just fine.

Cheap and fast
Works great! Bought 2 switches with 10G SFP+ ports. Connected up and wow is all I can say. Much cheaper than buying fiber patch cables and transceivers. Worked so good I bought another as backup.

Great for trunk ports.
These cables work as expected. I'm using them to connect a couple of switches. Main Switch is a TRENDnet and downstream switch is a MikroTik. I have owned 10Gtek network gear over the years and I get comming back to the brand because of good pricing, compatibility and quality.

They Just Work. Fiber is pretty robust too.
Works perfectly with several Ubiquiti switches and Intel based cards. I've purchased a few of these so far with no issues and stable 10 GbE performance. The fiber they are using is pretty robust as well. While running this cable through an attic space, the cable was not damaged despite being inadvertently pulled into a bit of a knot.

10Gtek products are amazing.
Having built out over well over 100 data rooms/closests/cabinets/data centers I can say when you purchase a Gtek adapter you just know it is going to work. I have installed these the last few years and have never had an incompatibility issue (make sure you get the one unlocked to a brand if needed or open compatible if you are ok with warnings and bypass them). The quality is very high with each being QCd before placing in to bags. The colors are vibrant and hard to miss with the cord lengths available to cover most situations or overkill for others. (I mean who needs a 3ft cable when a 2ft is needed. That’s what cable management is all about). Accidentally ordered the wrong interface and they returned items graciously and helped point to the correct cables. I just can’t say enough good things about this company, their products and their professionalism. If you aren’t buying cables from them then why not?

Works fine but Does NOT work with power edge
Important to know that while this works on most NICs, switches, etc. it does not work on the power edge servers. This is less of a Dell issue, and more of an Intel chipset/greed/pickiness issue. Lots of comments about how some cables work, and others that are nearly identical won't. I didn't realize this at first because it wasn't my initial intent. If the vendor could reach out if they know specific transceiver (I know finistar works) and/or DAC/aoc combo I would appreciate and would change rating.

It just works! 25 Gbps ftw!
I used this to make a direct connection between my truenas server and my windows pc, using connectx-4 LX network adapters, and achieved a 25Gbps link. Real world transfer speed over SMB is around 22 Gbps, or roughly 2.1 gigabytes per second. I like that I didn’t have to sort out what transceivers to buy, but there in lies the trade off too - if I use this on an unsupported network switch I’ll have to run an all new cable with properly supported transceivers. But for now, it’s not an issue and I’m loving my transfer speeds. 66 gigabyte file copied over in a little over 30 seconds? Let’s gooooo! Fun fact: while running the wire through my attic, I put hard kinks in it in multiple places (don’t ask lol) and it still works perfectly 🤘😎🤘

Even a 7G wireless connection didn't give a great speed between my lounge and my study. This cable was the next best thing. It works. I wish I was in a modern apartment that has this sort of stuff built into the walls.

The cable worked for 2 months and then failed. Stay away from this low quality items and provider
