This is the one!
The media could not be loaded. Highly recommend this company for a scoby! The scoby came with about a cup of starter liquid, instructions and some loose leaf tea (enough for two batches) + compostable tea bags, which I wasn’t expecting. The scoby was really healthy looking when it first arrived. It’s been several weeks now and I just bottled up my first primary brew for a secondary fermentation. I was amazed with how effervescent the kombucha already was even before the second fermentation. It works so much better than the scoby I grew from store bought kombucha. I’m so happy with the quality of their baby. Thank you!The video is from 24 hours after bottling.Picture showing a healthy, active scoby producing CO2.

Good Scoby, booches!
I was spending a lot of money on store-bought kombucha, so I finally broke down and bought a scoby to brew my own. After researching scobies, I ordered this one because of all the good reviews. I am definitely happy with that decision!I was a little intimidated to start, but the company has great instructions for the primary ferment and optional secondary ferment on their website as well as a handy log sheet that you can track your brews.I don’t have a heat mat or pH strips, but my kombucha has been consistently good. I let it ferment two weeks for primary and one for secondary ferment, but you have to figure out what works for you taste wise—I don’t like a sweet brew. I’m currently brewing my eighth and ninth brews with the baby scobies. I try to start one a week so I have a constant supply. One warning: You will end up with a ton of scobies! I started a Scoby Hotel in a mason jar and need to figure out other things to do with them.If you’re like me and love kombucha but need to save some money, order yourself one of these scobies and start brewing your own! The possibilities are endless for tea and flavor combinations.Happy brewing!

Did not ferment
I kept my scoby in a room temp dark area until I was ready to get started (1.5-2 weeks). I followed the instructions on the package for the first round, and the tea seemed like it may have fermented, but I wasn’t certain if it was just because the recipe called for less sugar than I usually use. On an attempted second fermentation in bottles there was no fermentation whatsoever. I tried a second batch of kombucha from the first fermentation with my own tried and true recipe that I usually use and it did not ferment at all after a full week. I don’t believe this scoby had any live culture in it at all based on the results. I made sure to keep the container at the right temperature with a thermometer, and kept it out of any daylight, so there’s no other reason this wouldn’t have worked. I’ve never had any difficulty getting my kombucha to ferment before over three years of fermenting.

Great starter kit
This is a great kombucha starter set. The scoby was healthy and ready to rock. It comes with enough starter tea for your first batch, which you might be able to extend a little with as little white vinegar. Not necessary, though. The set includes two big tea bags and enough tea for two batches. And of course, it comes with instructions. Follow the instructions and you'll end up with a great batch of kombucha. I really appreciated having everything I needed in the kit.The scoby will grow. Eventually it will get big enough to divide if you want to Brew more than one jar at a time. I do two gallon sized jars, which yields two growlers, plus a couple smaller bottles to share with friends. I have everything I need to make as much as I want, and it all started from this little kit.I used to make kombucha, and I think I was brewing 4 gallons at a time back then. Then, I forgot about a couple growlers I had sitting on top of the refrigerator and one of them exploded, coating the entire kitchen in kombucha. I'm not exaggerating when I say the entire kitchen. The whole house smelled like feet for a day or two and the mess was overwhelming. So now, I'm keeping it at 2 gallons at a time and a store the bottles in the laundry room utility sink just in case I forget again. But I don't think I will. Who would do that?

Totally recommend this product, scoby arrived very active. I started working on my first batch of kombucha right away. Came with good directions and approximately one cup of starter liquid. It also came with some herbal tea to make 1 gallon of kombucha, also loved the tea, it made a delicious batch of kombucha.

First buch ferment slow but works
The media could not be loaded.

It’s alive!
I wanted to try making kombucha but couldn’t find a scoby anywhere in town. I was worried about it dying in transit… and of course this package was the one that was a delayed and mauled package when it did finally arrive! I’ve been making kombucha with it for several months now and it’s been working great, it’s very active and produces a baby scoby that goes in the compost and helps that be active as well… it’s so easy and cheap to make that I won’t go back to store bought!

Excellent scoby
I bought this scoby in starter liquid to start my kombucha making again. It came in the mail and was free of mold and was healthy. I used it for my second batch of kombucha and it turned out delicious. I highly recommend this scoby.
