Wonderful!
Don't be fooled by the cheap price, these are excellent gyroscopes. I even used my air compressor to spin one up to who-knows-how-many rpm (High pitched whine, it was great!) and it just spun like a champ. Dropped one on the concrete, and the flywheel popped out, but we just snapped it back together and kept playing. Worth twice the price, easily. Great fun!

Old school toys!
Great grand children love them!

not the best construction. Very squeeky
Decent product, not the best construction. Very squeeky, wheel can dislodge if dropped, cage is not welded all around, so wheel can be taken out. I added wd-40 to get it so spin more smoothly. String could be longer too, can't really get a super fast spin. Seems more for kids, not really professional grade but overall it's very entertaining.

fun and educational! great gift to get kids into physics
classic toy, very fun, and educational! there is a little booklet with info and instructions. I recommend this for children (and adults like me) who have even the slightest interest in physics and/or science in general. These "toys" exhibit some very unexpected behavior, and can even appear to defy gravity (with some practice). Makes a great gift for kids who like science, and it takes just as long to wind up as it does to spin, so plenty of time to explain all the physics! =)

they don't stand up quite like I expected them to
While these get close to what I was hoping for, they don't stand up quite like I expected them to. There is a definite wobble to both of the gyros. They can also slide a little sideways on their axle and all of a sudden make a louder noise and seem to not spin as freely. Even at the beginning, at full speed, they can't quite hold themselves horizontal on the included string or stands. Perhaps the wheel needs a bit more mass to have a stronger effect? It leaves me excited to try something nicer in the future, but these are not good enough to use for a long time, it just gets a bit old working hard to wind them, spin them fast and get close to what they are supposed to do but not quite achieving it.

old toy, big hit
I have three grown nephew's, all older than 20. I give them $ for Christmas, but thought it would be nice to get each something to open. Just for fun I bought crazy Aaron's thinking puddy for nephew Aaron, the Yoda wisdom book&figure for another, and couldn't think what to get my last nephew. I settled on these Gyroscopes. They all got a kick out of their little gifts, but all ended up playing with these. Three essentially grown men on the floor playing with the gyroscopes. It was great....brought back days of old when my husband played Santa and they were all small. :) good memories.

Weak metal, wears out after a few uses.
Do not buy this product. The pictures attached are of one gyroscope that wore out the day after the product arrived. The gyroscopes were only used for a half hour on day one, and a few minutes on day two. This is hardly what I would expect for the price paid. The gyroscopes arrived yesterday. Included in the box were two gyroscopes, two black plastic stands, two pull cords, and an instruction sheet. The gyroscopes each measure 3.75" high when standing, with 2.25" diameter rotors. The pull strings are just straight pieces of string with no handle or loop to pull. Instructions are clear and easy to follow. Thread the string through the hole in the axle and turn the rotor to wind the string, staying between the hole and the rotor. Strings are a little over 2 ft length and if tightly wound, will make two sets of coils around the axle. The problem is with the quality of the metal used for the axle. The rotor doesn't spin for long, even with a good pull, and will only stay up long enough to put it on a stand or pick up one end with a loop of string. I doubt anyone could get both gyros going long enough to pull of the trick pictured on the box, with one gyro balanced on the end of the other. After a total of maybe one hour of usage, the metal failed where the axel fits into the gyroscope frame. If you look carefully in pictures, there is a small piece of metal on the desk. This was the tip of the axle, which fit into the frame. Also note that this was the bottom axle (without the hole for the pull string), and sat over the end of the frame that has a groove cut for balancing the gyroscope on a string. In other words, this is the end that would have experienced the most friction. It pains me to write this review. I chose this product because it was made in the USA and looked exactly like the one I had when I was a kid, which lasted for well over a year. I purchased these gyroscopes after getting my children excited about how they work and what they can do, thinking it might help me explain a little bit of science for them. My son is now afraid to touch the other one, thinking he somehow broke the first one and might break the second. He's just shy of 7 years old and certainly hadn't pulled the string hard when it broke. It's very clear looking at the broken piece that this was a weak point in the metal. The tip didn't wear down - it actually broke off, and a small pocket is visible in the metal where it broke. I cannot tell you which product to buy instead of this one. The best I can say is to read reviews and look at pictures. I just noticed others have had a similar experience with this product. Please don't make the mistake I made.

The Gyroscope you Remember!
I thought I would try these toys on my boys to get them away from electronics for a bit. Well, it worked for a short time however it didn't last. That is not a negative reflection on the toy but on the other distractions they have. I would suggest these for kids under 12 that do not have so many options. The fact that they have two in one package was also very nice, and both are completely separate units that can be used together for some tricks. Please git this a try for yourself as well, if you remember the ones you grew up with.

Good toy. Came as advertised. You can do loads of tricks from YouTube. The gyroscope can break if it falls from some height so be careful. Keep away from small kids as they could ingest the plastic pieces. Other than that, the toy works great. The packaging was not very good.

Conforme à la description. Très déçu par les finitions : anneaux peu ajuster . couche de passivation visible sur les parties métalliques.

Works well, but the gyro is vibrating too much fro some experiments. It could be a lot smoother.
