Perfect Fit and Feels Premium
The Normcore 58.5mm V4 Spring-Loaded Tamper is a perfect match for the Gaggia Classic 58mm portafilter. The fit is precise — no loose movement, no edge gaps — and the spring mechanism gives you consistent tamping pressure every time. The titanium PVD coating not only looks great but also feels durable and smooth. It’s well-balanced in the hand and makes tamping effortless and repeatable. The included 15lb, 25lb, and 30lb springs are a nice touch for anyone who likes to fine-tune their setup.

Excellent tamper and looks good in white
Bought for use with Bambino Plus and it's a massive upgrade over the stock Sage tamper. Feels high quality as it's very heavy and solidly constructed. Nice smooth spring loaded action and minimal effort to achieve even tamping - really pleased with it. Looks great in white too as it coordinates with Sage machine in seasalt colour and other white accessories.

Great quality
Incredibly high quality, weighty and a good mechanism. So much better than the tamper my breville came with and i look forward to using it.

Good tamper!
This tamper was a good purchase. It fits good in the hand, is easily adjustable (it comes with different springs for different pressures), has held up well, and is generally just an enjoyable thing to use. It's also very comfortable in the hand!

Great. Just be aware how much you push down.
Got one of these. 1 year later still very happy, high quality. Simple to use once you understand the basics. The default spring size is perfect. Just be aware once you bottom out STOP don't keep pushing. Your coffee is perfectly tamped. Feel free to do it a second time but don't keep pushing once you bottom out.

0.5 mm makes all the difference
Good quality tamper. Seams to give just the right pressure, and fits the filter basket perfectly on my Profitec 400 machine.

I have only recently ventured into the espresso rabbit hole with a Bambino Plus/Baratza Encore ESP setup. After watching innumerable You Tube videos on how to dial in and pull a decent shot, the importance of consistent and repeatable puck prep was clear. And that's exactly where this Normcore self-leveling tamper excels: with a little practice you will be able to produce a perfectly level, evenly tamped puck every time. Before getting into the mechanics, though, just a word about the build quality of this tamper. Simply put, it exudes quality in every aspect. Just as with the bottomless portafilter and WDT tool, the Normcore black anodized aluminum is machined perfectly, has a substantial, solid feel and is shaped to fit the hand naturally. It just fits and feel right. The threading for removal of the base plate and spring mechanism is smooth and tight, no excess play anywhere. It's just very well built. It's also quite easy to use. I distribute the grounds with a WDT tool, then place the tamper on the portafilter basket pressing down just enough for the black flange (or lip, whatever you want to call it) to make contact evenly all the way around the basket, then give it a couple of half turns to level the bed and seat the flange evenly around the filter. Then just push down until the tamper reaches its stopping point and that's it - release the pressure on the handle, the base plate will pop back up and you are left with a perfectly even, consistent, repeatable puck. The stock 25 lb. spring has worked well for me, haven't seen any reason to swap out for the 15 or 30 lb. ones that are provided. So while the Normcore tamper certainly isn't the cheapest option out there, this is a case of getting what you pay for. I am certain it has made my entry into espresso world much less frustrating - the shots extract evenly with none of the spurting and spraying you see with an uneven, channeled puck. Highly recommended.

I've tried a few tampers like this and this one is the best by far.

I didn't receive the additional 2 springs with the box. Hence the 4 stars. Shouldn't be an issue because I was planning on using the pre-installed 25lbs anyways. However the product is of better quality. Recommended.
