I like Meswak, because of its awsome taste.

Does Dabur Meswak Toothpaste has formaldehyde as one of the ingredients?

I bought this product sometime back on Amazon & checked for ingredients on the packaging, but didnt find any mention of Formaldehyde...but i did some digging on this question and found this very detailed review from a user on Amazon.com. The toothpastes that are from India do list formaldehyde as an ingredient, the import versions may or may not list it. Now, do they not list it because they don't use it or because it is below a certain concentration? That I do not know. But, are you really going to contemplate using this product when you have a myriad of natural toothpastes available from Jason's, Nature's Gate, Desert Essence, Periobrite and others from Amazon or places like Whole Foods?IF the presence of formaldehyde doesn't give you pause, certainly the presence of sodium lauryl sulfate and sodium saccharin (LAB made artificial sweetener ) ought to.UPDATE: The newest Meswak toothpastes purchased in India now also contain "triclosan", the active ingredient in Colgate Total toothpaste and alcohol free hand sanitizers. Saw it on a toothpaste tube a relative bought from India. I do not know if they've added triclosan to the export versions.updated ingredients list on a tube for the Indian domestic market: Calcium Carbonate, Sorbitol, Water, Silica, Sodium Lauryl Sulphate, Flavour, Miswak Extract, Cellulose Gum, Carrageenan, Sodium Silicate, PVM/ MA Copolymer, Sodium Saccharin, sodium Benzoate, Cl 77891, Triclosan.My educated guess is that they conveniently leave out the presence of Formaldehyde for the tubes destined for the domestic market due to the differences in regulations between India and the US.
