Journey 2: The Mysterious Island DVD

We watched this movie with our 5 year old and 3 year old and we all enjoyed it. The story line was entertaining and exciting which kept our kids intrigued throughout the while movie. The characters are relatable and it shows different family dynamics that are entertaining. Our kids also really enjoyed the scenes with the giant animals such as bees and lizards. And us as parents were thoroughly entertained too and it kept our interest during the whole movie. If your looking for a funny, entertaining and exciting movie that all ages can enjoy this would be a perfect movie.

My child is reading this book so I let her watch the movie. She loved seeing everything come to life. Great film.

This movie is so much fun!!! Our family loves this one - AND - we love it as much as the first Journey movie - which is also awesome!

I seem to be one of the few who enjoyed Journey to the Center of the Earth when it was released a few years back, so I was surprised to see a sequel was planned. I guess the original made enough money. I knew immediately I'd be going to see Journey 2: The Mysterious Island. And I enjoyed it, too.In the time since his first adventures, Sean (Josh Hutcherson, the only returning cast member) has become a Jules Vern fanatic. Which is why he immediate recognizes a code he's gotten made of character names from Jules Vern books. Along with his step-father Hank (Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson), he deciphers it and discovers it gives clues to The Mysterious Island. Sean is convinced that it came from his grandfather.Eventually, he and Hank set out to find the island. They hire Gabato (Luis Guzman) and his daughter Kailani (Vanessa Hudgens) to fly them out there on a helicopter. Will they find Sean's grandfather (Michael Caine)? And can they get off the island again?Okay, let's be perfectly honest here. This is a kid's movie. Yes, it has action and fantasy and plenty of comedy. But kids are the target audience. Now, that's definitely not a bad thing in my book. I fully recognize this is not "great" cinema. It's designed to be a fun movie, and I enjoyed it as such.The story is not terribly original, although I got so caught up in it that I really didn't care. There is plenty of action to keep you engaged even if you know how it is going to end.And I can't forget the comedy. The packed theater I saw the movie with laughed multiple times, and it sounded to me like the adults were laughing as much as the kids.The film is filled with special effects as well, and they worked. While I knew what I was seeing couldn't be real, I believed it. While the movie was released in 3D, I didn't see it that way, so I can't comment on how that looked.And the acting worked, too. It's not outstanding, but it gets the job done without pulling you out of the film. Plus we learn that Dwayne Johnson has a pretty decent singing voice.There were some flaws to the film. There was a certain level of cheese, especially most of the times the film tried to do anything serious. And on that note, the interpersonal relationships were so predictable it was a bit annoying.Then there's Luis Guzman. I'm not sure if it was him or how his character was written, but I found him more annoying than funny. I would have preferred the movie without his character.I realize that I will be in the minority for enjoying Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, but I found it to be entertaining. And since that's all it was really aiming for, I think it succeeded.

Just absolutely love this movie. Wife and kids all enjoyed it! Cool story line

Equally as film and enjoyable as the first

As far at the movie itself goes, this was not a horrible film but not anything memorable either. The movie is full of middle school drama, corny jokes, and absolutely nothing compelling in the story. The cheesy plot requires a massive amount of suspended belief from the viewer. The acting is decent but nothing spectacular.I was disappointed to see the movie gives a very negative portrayal of father figures and includes a HUGE amount of disrespect from the teenager, with either no negative consequences or *positive* consequences for the bad behaviors and bad attitude. The movie makes the father figures looks like they are jokes, and there isn't really much of a redeeming character arc for the teen.In addition, the subtitles on the movie are HORRIBLE. They are so blurry, it is almost impossible to read them in any language. I was happy to see that the DVD included French language options since the movie is loosely based on a Jules Verne novel, but the subtitles were worthless because of the blurry font.

The only thing I miss is Brandon Frazier playing his iconic roles.This movie was still very adventurous, all the characters are likable and the jabs between Dwayne and Michael Caine is funny as well as Lois Guizman and Dwayne’s humorous banter.Non stop action

Critics seemed to be harsh on this film. It does stray away from the original content of Jules Verne, but it was its own movie. I really liked the cast in this one! Luis Guzmán was a great addition and enjoyed the comic relief he brought. BUT – is it believable he’d have fathered a daughter like Vanessa Hudgens? LOLThis movie was quite action-packed! It was truly fantastical for them to end up on some mysterious island. Of course this quickly turned into a race for survival. Josh Hutcherson is the only returning character – but he does a great job playing the lead. There are plenty of great, witty one-liners – along with a pec dancing manoeuvre by Dwayne Johnson.The five star rating is for the condition of the product. No problems with the case, disc, or shipping of the product.

This is a fun film to watch! Love the Rock! My favourite Rock films are Jungle Cruise and Jumanji 1 & 2. This is not quite as good as those, but was fun none the less.

This whole movie is a very well done story. Definitely a family movie. Lots of Fantasy. The Rock is awesome in this.
