Timelines of World History: 1 (Usborne History) : Jane Chisholm, Usborne Publishing Ltd: desertcart.co.uk: Books Review: This is a must have book - To be honest, I sent for this book on the spur of the moment. Having just read a newspaper article about the excavations at Gobekli Tepe in Turkey I decided that my knowledge of ancient civilisations and world history in general was ... well ... ancient. This is a tour de force, a big book in every respect - the history of the world in 656 pages. Publishers Dorling Kindersley haven't failed to meet their usual excellent standards. Timelines of World History has a very intuitive layout, brilliantly designed diagrams, stunning photos, clear print - it is absolutely superb. This is a "must have" for anyone with an interest in history. Or for anyone who has kids who are studying history. Or even for someone with no interest in history at all (They might just be in for a surprise). Oh, if only history had been taught like this when I was at school... However, my recommendation does come with a bit of a health warning - my wife got rather tired of me continually exclaiming "Good grief, did you realise ....(etc)". But that was until she got her own hands on it and now I can't get it back. Methinks this should be one of the 101 to read (or at least browse !) before you die. I promise you will learn a lot - and take a lot - from it. Review: A comprehensive historial overview which is painless to absorb. - I purchased this book as a birthday present for my eight year old granddaughter who has already a deep interest in history. I expect this book to be of interest to her until she reaches her majority and even longer - she is already asking questions as a result of dipping into the book. History is mainly taught in a departmentalized manner - this book is groundbreaking as the reader can see at a glance what was happening in all other areas of the world. The layout is simple but comprehensive and is of interest from children to adults. A Hit.

I absolutely loved this book
I absolutely loved this book!!! I read the reviews of some of the other people who bought it. I am always a bit skeptical of these kinds of books but when it arrived I was very impressed. It is informative and easy to follow and a really good break down on the timelines of world history. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is really interested in learning about history and how it all comes together.

Great timeline with nice pictures
This book is a fun visual for world history. It isn't super extensive but it has enough to make it a great resource for remembering what happens at the same time in different parts of the world.

A very good book
On the whole very good, though I must agree with the person who lamented its size: as a coffee-table sized book it would have been better. I'd like to thank the seller, for mine was in the promised condition, or even a tad better.

It has a lot of information.
As someone whose eyes aren't great, it was a strain to navigate the column structure of the information. It has quite a bit of detail. A little too much for me. But, younger adults & teenagers would probably love it. Structure could be improved. But, "A picture can paint a thousand words".

This is a superb book which I have found helpful for teaching beginners as well as older students. The maps, the time lines and major events and people across the world have been put together and is helpful in explaining to learners what was happening in other parts of the world when studying Indian history. Learners can also see how events elsewhere could influence events at home. I found it a useful gift for children. A special thanks to dealstar, the seller, who has given an amazingly affordable price for a treasure like this. Book came in good condition.

I bought this book because we had borrowed it from the library so many times that I figured it would be worth our while to simply have it at home! It has been tremendously helpful to each of our kids as they have taken World History at a local Resource Center for home schoolers.

Good pictures uncluded. Essential and interesting story, not so deep. Good for kids and adults too.

Es un libro bien grande y súper interesante. Están presentadas las distintas edades históricas en paralelo en diferentes partes del mundo, ayuda muchísimo a relacionar los hechos y no memorizar y repetir como loros. Las ilustraciones son geniales. Me encanta!
