what is the difference in the 1420 vs 1400? thank you

The 1400 is a grey color, mine also quit on me without warning. It then shorted any battery that was attached to it. Trying to get in contact with EGO was (and still is) impossible due to the fact they have one single phone number as a point of contact, no webform, no email nothing. The 1420 has a carbon fiber look to it, the power trigger also has an extra safety feature to stop the unit from accidently engaging. The speed indicator also lights up. The shaft is also carbon fiber.

Difference between 1400 & 1420 powerhead? Both item descriptions seem to list a hi/low speed switch? True? The value of hi/low speed seems minimal?

True Hi/lo switch. Noticable power change. Does the job very well.

Ego customer service says 1400 powerhead works with the ea0800 edger. but some q/a says the 1400 doesn't fit the ea0800. which is true?

I have both the PH and the Edger and it works fine - I also have the polesaw and cultivator - great set

Works great!

Was heavier than I thought it would be. Was hoping my wife could use it for her garden, no way with her back is that going to happen. However, the heft of the machine (with tiller attachment) makes me think it is a rugged durable unit. Workes awesome once you get used to it. Was amazed how long even the medium battery lasts before it needs charging.

I had to buy this because I wanted to attachment to go with it for cutting down brush in my backyard. Works excellent.

Seems ok so far

Only 2-3 hours of use so far. Seems decent quality. I use a 10ah battery with it and weed eater attachment. That makes it a bit heavy. Powerful and works better than my previous gasoline weed eater. Certainly quieter and less hassle. Not fully maintenance free though… needs annual application of grease.
