Quality travel pack that won't break the bank. This pack is extremely comfortable, even when packed very heavy. The ability to split the packs and use one as your carryon and one as your personal item makes this a great choice for traveling light. The only thing that makes me drop this to a 4* is that unlike the Osprey Farpoint 40l is that it doesn't have a dedicated laptop compartment. If I had it to do over again I would have just purchased the Farpoint 40l and paired it with the Osprey Daypack. It's pretty much the same setup as the Farpoint 55l and attaches the same, you just get the laptop compartment and a small easy access compartment on the larger pack instead of the smaller one. Easily 4 1/2 *'s.

I crammed this with enough stuff for 2 people. I didn't weigh it but I'm surprised nothing broke. The day pack is a great addon. I use it as a personal carry item for long flights. It has a pocket for tablet/laptop. The main pack has great support just in case you pack heavy. After what I put this pack through and seeing it's endurance I'll recommend it to all family and friends that need this type of pack.

I ended up buying the 40L version and separately buying the daypack. IMO the design of the 55L is too interlinked with the presence of the daypack. There is no top stash pocket in the main bag in this version, and the laptop sleeve that is present on the 40L isn't present on the 55, even though the bags are otherwise identical. (Maybe the pockets take up some of the space? I can't figure out where the extra 15L go otherwise) If you plan to always 100% of the time use the big bag in conjunction with the day pack this is probably fine and dandy but I wanted the flexibility of being able to use either or both as standalone bags for various purposes..

I travel a lot for work taking quick trips between CA and OR. I was looking for something a little more convenient than my roller bag but better to pack than a duffel. This basically fits the bill but fully packed is a little awkward to wear if you aren’t used to navigating an airport with something so large on your back. Biggest complaint is that the day pack, if you put a laptop in it, sags like crazy off the back. The whole point was so I’d have a bag and carry on it one but if I have to put the laptop in the main bag, what’s the point? Too late to return it but wouldn’t recommend or buy it again. Day pack also is not terribly comfortable. Wore it for a day around Victoria BC on foot with just a few things in it (hoodie, water bottle, camera). and it hit my neck/shoulders in a weird way, and I couldn’t find a comfortable strap length. It lays flat on my back though, so for that I like it. Does not do well on a roller bag handle (slides right down).
