Works great.
I had ordered a cheaper one but the results were not as I had hoped, so I ordered this one. I could not be happier as the picture is crisp and clear on my HDMI TV. I am using the S-Video input. Would purchase again.

Did its job very well, but I've had two separate units break within months of using it. Bad build quality.

This solved my problem
I thought My old CLD-909 LD was done. The video was dropping out after a few minutes of play. So I traded up for a nice DVL-919. Nope. Turned out the analog video section of my old Onkyo TX-SR805 was failing. The HDMI inputs still work fine. So after long search this gizmo fixed the prob. Read complaints most of these convertors just stretch/distort to 16:9 & don't have the option to output 4:3. This solved the problem at a reasonable price. Video is not perfect but my new U8H does a good job of displaying the old format & the 7.1 THX sounds great.

A must for older DVD to smart TVs

Does not switch between 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratios.
Don't believe the description. This does not switch between different aspect ratios. There is a switch for 720/1080 resolution, but it only displays any 4:3 input as a stretched 16:9 aspect ratio. Do not buy this for an old game console that you want to use on your modern widescreen TV.
