British romantic comedy starring Dougray Scott and Claire Forlani. Rob Haley (Scott) is an up-and-coming London chef and restaurateur who is devastated when he loses his wife in a tragic accident. His friend TV chef Gordon Ramsay (appearing as himself) persuades him to reinvent his life by taking on a dilapidated country pub and transforming it into a gourmet restaurant. There he is visited by beautiful American food critic Kate Templeton (Claire Forlani) - but are either of them ready to find an appetite for love?

Beautiful film great story
This is a foodie's version of Love actually, Fantastic story great acting and of course The God of the kitchens himself Gordon is in it could not want more from a film if you love Real English Pubs and a storyline that no doubt rings a lot of truth bells then here it is Loves Kitchen. And Maybe idiotic Americans who still insist on driving along texting and talking on mobiles may actually realise its not your 'right' to use your phone driving it's others right to live.

cute film
Honestly, from some of the reviews I was expecting the worst film ever made! I have seen (and enjoyed) some, truly BAD romantic movies and this DEFINITELY isn't in that category. More along the lines of a British Hallmark movie. The two leads are married in real life and have brilliant chemistry. I did take one star (and another half if I could) for the appalling first scene with Gordon Ramsey. I mean, they weren't even in the same BUILDING when it was shot, let alone the same room! Other than that, I really didn't see what was so woeful about it. If you like a cute, simple romcom, go for it.

Missing a special ingredient
Consider this a 3 course meal you've been promised, where the starter is 'fine' but lacks depth of flavour, the main is nice but lacks presentation and the dessert is a sticky gooey mess that you really shouldn't enjoy (due to calories alone) but you couldn't resist finishing! Not a bad British film, there was something missing it to make it really good. It was a reasonable way to spend a few hours- with some fun cameos from people you would recognise from mainstream tv.

Loved Loves Kitchen
Read the negative comments here and expected to be disappointed, but had a nice surprise. What a sweet, charming, cosy up on the sofa with a glass of vino film. A gentle, soothing, touching piece, with delightful actors and cheeky one liners. A British nugget. Well done James Hacking, a great debut, on a tight budget and in 20 days - WOW.... Loved the Helicopter scene, a perfect part for Frankie (X XFactor :-).

A star-studded bait whose only redeeming feature is Claire Forlani's charm
This movie that stars cooking starts with what might as well be kitchen stock footage (and finishing only!), continues with narration that is as cliché as it is useless and a title in the opening credits that forgot its apostrophe. I am already asking myself: "Why should I care if the filmmakers don't, beyond the leads are known or attractive?". Watching the movie, it is eventually clear that there were some good ideas but even those were not well executed:- Starring Gordon Ramsay as himself gives gravitas to the fictitious chef's credentials. Most non-acting celebrities invited to do the same will pull viewers right out of the film back to reality. But Ramsay was adequate. I think we would have believed him more if he was truly pissed off. I blame the director: know your cast, film them at their best. Ramsay is not an actor but a lover of food. All that was needed was to invite Ramsay once to eat exceptionally great food and invite him to the same place the day after and serve him crap and ACTION!- The romantic movie formula is particularly transparent, taking away moments that could have been original or even make sense. The lead actors only get together because they are the lead actors because the film spends so much time with unecessary side characters that it misses the opportunity and the necessity to relate the falling in love part. It is hard to believe that it is anything more than sex between the attractive girl of the village and the newcomer. Wanting us to fill gaps such as "she likes him because he can cook and she is a reviewer OR maybe she feels guilty" just betrays the script's laziness. The chef wants to cook well again but we have to guess or assume why that is the case; and wait towards the end when he reveals it is because of her, because the film fails to show it (or thinks that just putting two events one after the other automatically links them as cause and effect).- Many scenes should have been edited out because they raise expectations that they fall short of meeting and benefit neither the plot nor character growth. For example, there is a scene where the daughter is shown to wake up because she heard an intruder; showing us this was absolutely useless since nothing was done about it, it was never mentioned again and it made no difference to the plot. This looks like an attempt to create suspens or to play with the viewer's mind. The pot smoking scene is also nonsensical but to add to a useless verdict.- Peter Bowles, Michelle Ryan, Cherie Lunghi, Pip Torrens and Caroline Langrishe are utterly wasted. Simon Callow is clearly casted to play a variation of his Four Weddings and a Funeral character.- This is about British cuisine and the only thing that is repeatedly British is the trifle. I don't think I can remember anything else he cooked because they spent more time saying "British cuisine" or variations thereof than actually showing British cuisine or demonstrating the enjoyment of cooking it. Beyond the anonymous introductory food clips that just tell us that we are in a food-themed romance, the only time they stop to show real cooking is to serve us the cliche "this is how to slice the ingredients" because how else can we make sure the leads are close to each other to kindle any desire.- With only half as many characters, the movie would have worked far better. The amount of characters did not even give the impression that the movie (or the Boot) was set in a village. The only couple of male villagers who normally visited the Boot actually added nothing. The village "judge" was useless as were the critic's entourage including the "bodyguard", the cliche "lord" of the village, the ex, etc. The different stories or semblant of character development they represent add no vital clue to the plot or to the understanding of it.- The third act conflict was just stupid. For once, the chef could have acted as the adult and supposed food lover he is and recognised right then and there that his food was bad and the critic was right and did him a favour. But no, the formula had to be followed, whether it made sense or not and whether it negatively affected character growth. Its occasionally uneven pace, the fantasy of movie's miraculous conversion from one review into instantaneously booked seats for weeks, the reeducation of the selfish father that had no payoff, the almost accepted American xenophobia, were as many additional reasons to derail this film. My utter annoyance at the overall laziness of this star-studded bait dissipates as I expose the waste of time it is but I realise that it will also disappear once I press the submit button. So, for that to happen, I will complete this review with this conclusion: The movie's only redeeming feature is Claire Forlani's eyes and overall charm although even though she is helped neither by the script nor by the direction.

I simply can't understand the good reviews for this
I bought the dvd on the basis of the good reviews alreday existing at Amazon, but the film falls short on almost every criterion. It gets points for its endeavour, in trying to capture the flavour of rural Britain, with lots of eccentric and sometimes over-the-top British characters - but loses them all on its execution, with a cringeworthy plot and script, poor characterisation and simply dreadful acting from all the actors, notably including the main leads. It was a struggle to continue watching, and I just pressed the fast forward button to get me through it. I did that in case it got better. It didn't. I know these sorts of films have predictable plots; the pleasure is in the journey instead of the ending, but this short film felt like a trans-Siberian rail trip.

excelent
excelent film, great storyline, but makes you hungry, obviously the critic and chef fall for each other but not for long time a lot of ups and downs and the critics dad tries to sabotage the restrant/pub, but due to the daughter of the chef ends up supporting them, well worth buying a film you could watch over again.
