I have a decoration piece that's 4.5 inches in width and 3.5 inches length. The lid looks too small for it to fit through. Am I right?

I think it will fit. The tank is a half moon shape so It really depends on the shape of the item. Ive fit a spongebob pineapple fish house, a squidward fish house along with plants in mine. Its about 5.5 inches width in the middle at the widest point and the length of the tank is about 10 inches. The tank itself is about a foot tall. Those are the dimensions of the tank. I tried to fit a round coconut hermit crab house in there and it did not fit but it was a bulky item to be putting into a gallon and a half tank. If you wanna put lots of props in your tank with ur betta id recommend a 3 gallon tetra tank. i bought one on here for like 40 bucks. I upgraded one of my bettas to a 3 gallon so I could fit the large coconut in the tank. Big items fit best in the center of this tank fyi. 4.5 by 3.5 should fit like I said.

Does it come with decorative kit, such as fake plants and rocks?

No, it is just the tank, lid and light. The light does not come with a power cord either. You can use batteries but they don't last long. It uses a micro usb cable which is the same as most smartphones use.

We keep our house pretty cold (64 degrees) so a beta doesn't do well, can a heater be added to this tank fairly easily?

Yes! I put the tetra heater in my tank and my betta is a lot happier. You have to go to a pet store to find a small one, mine is the mini thermal heater (50 watt, keeps tank at 78°) There is a little hole in the top of the lid at the back, perfect to run the cord through.

Does the light detach? How would we change the water without damaging the light?

The black part of the tank (has the LED lights in it). You can easily remove this and you will not damage the light at all.

I LOVE this tank. I received my tank very quickly, and it was not broken. It had no dings nor scratches. It was so perfect, I ordered another! I got the tank set up, no leaks, and it easily fit all my decorations. I am so happy with this tank! It easily fits my Halfmoon Betta ( Aztec) and he is a very happy betta.(First three photos) There is quite a lot of room to swim. The lights are not too bight, as I thought they would be. I put in green frosted pebbles, and gorgeous green lights dance the walls at night. The tank was so nice, we put it in our living room, instead of my bedroom! ( My mom doesn't like fish tanks, but she liked the elegant look of this tank.) My betta is a very happy little guy now! The second tank I ordered came just the same as the other. All my décor fit, and my Platy ( MacGyver) loves his new tank!(Last two photos) I previously had my platy in a 3 gallon, with a few others, but he killed all his "tank-mates" and the 3 gallon tank started to leak!!! So I loved the first one so much I ordered a second! He loves it! This tank also fits a Jardin corner Foam Bio-Filter, and Aqueon-mini heater perfectly! (I also used Tetra Aqua-Safe, and Tetra Safe-Start to help colonize the filter quickly.) I would highly recommend this tank to everyone, and anyone that has/wants fish! ~Edit~ My Platy(MacGyver) just recently jumped thru the feeding hole and went sky diving and carpet sledding. He was alive when we found him, and he is happily in his tank again.(No injuries at all!) I would recommend putting a small screen over the feeding hole, if you have fish that likes to jump!

Es una pecera de buen tamaño para los peces beta, las luces incorporadas le dan una vista espectacular de noche, solo que pueden ser un poco molestas por el alto brillo a pesar de ser solo 4 leds, pero si se colocan unas piedritas, algún accesorio o juguete que tape un poco la luz, se ve genial!!! Tiene la opción de colocar las luces ya sea en la parte superior de la pecera o en la inferior. Arriba tiene un orificio para darle de comer al pez sin necesidad de mover la tapa superior. Muy contento con mi compra.

This is perfect fir a starter tank with s single fish. No filter or anything really extra. Light plastic. The light is useless though, dosent give off enough light and it hardly worked. Clear with black on bottom and light hiusing is black.
