You get what you pay for.
This is a great idea. But it is cheap in price and quality. It worked and so got boxed in. Then it didn't work. And despite all the trouble shooting (which required unboxing in), no resolution. The issue became wifi connectivity despite a wemo plug next to it working flawlessly. It is what is. So don't be surprised if you get what you pay for. It also is hackable (which the manufacturer seems to think is a good thing) so if you are concerned about this, perhaps another solution would be better for you.
