Make sure you have help with you when it is delivered, cuz it's heavy.
I sold digital pianos over 30 years ago. Yamaha, had always been my favorite. This model, regardless of the low price, meets every expectation I ever could have had. I absolutely love it. You'll love the sound, the feel, and even the look of it as furniture. Worth every penny!

Beautifully Voiced Electric Piano
Wow!! This sweet little thing arrived on my doorstep on 29 November 2025. It was packaged in such a way that all parts were securely tucked in and protected so shipping and handling did not cause any damage to any of the components. Set up was a beeze and did not require any type of special tools to assemble. There were basically three parts that required assembly ; the bench, the music rack, and the foundation for the keyboard to rest on. The instruction manual, written in several languages, was very thorough and easy to inderstand, and included instructions along with illustrations describing all the features and functionality which proved to be very helpful. It also came with an easy / moderately easy book of classical music. Now onto the keyboard itself... You will enjoy the authentic piano feel, touch sensitivity high-quality sound, and beginner-friendly features. There are 88 Graded Hammer Standard (GHS) weighted keys that mimic an acoustic piano's touch. In addition, there is a built-in song library showcasing the various 10 different voices that include Grand Piano, Mellow Grand, Pop Grand, Strings. Vibraphone, Electric Piano, Jazz Organ, Pipe Organ, Harpsicord, Electric Piano, that can be played on full keyboard (same sound on all 88 keys), a split voice where half of the keyboard can use a selected voice, while the other half can use a different voice, and the dual functionality, where you can program the keyboard the play 2 voices at the same time. There is a keyboard "dust cover" as well. My favorite is playing Grand Piano coupled with strings. It soundS AWESOME. There a Metronome functionality which is a great compliment to this piano. You are able to record your playing, and during playback, you have the ability to play along with it, using different voices and playing a different accompaniment such as adding rolled chords, playing descents, etc. There are 3 foot pedals, just like using a regular piano, and have the same function. The piano bench, with no storage compartment, is shorter in length in comparison to that which is usually used for a regular piano, but with a bonus...THIS ONE IS PADDED!! Connectivity is as simple as attaching the power cord to the back of the Piano to the electrical outlet. Dn

Excellent product
We watched many videos before selecting this brand and model. I have never played piano before, so this model might be more muscle than I need, but the weighted keys and sound quality make it worth the price. I also like to change the musical instrument--great product!

Great digital piano - recommended
To be honest, I didn’t get chances to try digital pianos of other brands - I just found a YDP-144 in nearby Guitar Center and feel it’s good. Then I ordered YDP-165 from Amazon thinking it won’t be wrong to get one even better. Having Yamaha YDP for half month so far I’d say it’s a good decision to buy YDP-165. Pros: The keyboard and sound of YDP-165 is truly like a real acoustic piano. The key’s weight is exactly right to me — and I remember YDP-144’s key is kinda lighter but I cannot tell much difference since I don’t have chance to compare them side by side. And I even feel YDP-165’s keyboard delivers better feel than entry-level acoustic piano I have in the house of my hometown, as YDP-165’s keyboard uses anti-slippery materials which reduce the chance of pressing wrong key. Anyway, I totally have no complain regarding sound and keyboard of this digital piano. I can use this digital piano to play “The Maiden’s Prayer” comfortably - so I think this piano would be well suitable for beginner to at least intermidate-level players. The design and color are beautiful and elegant too. The compact size well fits my small apartment (even it’s not YDP S series) . Cons: The craft isn’t as good as IKEA furniture (see photos), so you may notice some tiny imperfection. Some screw holes’ position isn’t 100% accurate so it may take some of your energy to well install the piano; but these are just tiny details. After assembling the piano is quite solid. Overall, the quality of Yamaha is reliable. Unlike some models in CLP series, YDP-165 doesn’t have screen and more than a dozen of buttons on control panel. I prefer YDP’s simpler control panel because it makes digital piano more like a traditional acoustic piano instead of digital keyboard. The negative side is that it’s difficult to set up your piano. Leaning how to use key combination to set up piano is even harder than learning how to play “The Maiden’s Prayer” , so you may have to buy a MIDI cable, or spend another 50 dollars buying a Yamaha Bluetooth adapter to connect piano to your iPad. I think Yamaha should have the adapter coming with Piano for free as YDP-165 is already sold at a much higher price in the US compared to Asian market. Also you have to buy an additional 6.35mm earphone adapter if you want to connect your earphone/headphone to this piano.

We traded in our very old little piano and got this in its place. The weighted keys are great. Lots of added features that the piano didn't have. My 8 year old really enjoys playing on this and it also looks really pretty and sleek. Also great that it doesn't keep going out of tune the way the old piano did due to too many changes in temperature where we live.
