Deadeye Magnetic Chip Collector

I am an electrician and this worked as advertised.

This is a much needed tool if you’re an electrician or HVAC installer.

Works amazingly well for even hole saw size holes (up to almost 2.5”). It is so much faster and easier than trying to make a trap out of blue painters tape. PRO TIP: to ensure longevity and minimal frustration, wrap or coat this tool in something THIN (too thick will prevent good magnetic holding) and heat resistant. The magnets in this tool are over molded with plastic and drilling creates hot metal chips that can melt and embed themselves in the surface making it difficult to clean. Since we are primarily electronics people, we used polyamide (kapton) tape which works perfectly, but I’m sure there are other solutions. As a bonus, if it ever gets really dirty/ugly, you can always re-wrap it and it will be like new again.

Do the work but is hard to clean it

It’s a great idea however, with it being hot metal, it melted into the plastic really quickly Making it hard to clean

Magnet not as strong as I thought it would be.

The only negative part is hot metal melts into the plastic. Must wear gloves to clean after.
