HP Ink Advantage 4278 WiFi Colour Printer - Print/Scan/Copy with ADF Ideal for Home/Small Office

I purchased this yesterday and was excited to see the features for the price point, esp the ADF. Becasue of some of the negative reviews, decided to test all features immediately to decide to return or not.The AIO was delivered in the original HP packing and everthing external & internal was intact! The printer was easy to remove and was sealed-wrapped in platic paper. Connected and downloaded HP Smart software as suggested. Followed the instructions to install and everything went smoothly!ConnectivityBoth USB & WiFi connected worked perfectly. What I observed that WiFi on its own works fine but sometimes disconnects when the USB is connected. But independently, both are working perfectly!PrintingThe print quality was good. I printed on a good and used paper including printing by sending an email over the internet; ot worked fine. Though, I will say that the paper loading mechanism isn't the greatest. You need to open the back and pull it (increases the depth of the printer) and then it works fine. But if you do not set it properly, it remains semi-closed and doesn't detect the paper properly. Otherwise thumbs up. Another point of observation is the print speed is average. Takes a little longer than my other printer. But for 7K, I am happy! One last point on cartridges - The cartridges that come with a printer usually dont last long (for all printers, dont know why). But the next set onwards, they last as promised. So I would not hold this against HP or this printer.ScanningThe prime reason for selecting this printer was the availability of an ADF at this price point! The company claims 35 sheet capacity. I tried with 23 pages and it worked like a charm. This was my point of joy as I scan a lot more than I print. I would say that the ADF seemed smoother than my other 25K printer!Printer DisplayCompact and adequate. There are just enough indicators and buttons to keep you informed of whats happening or if there is an error. Not fancy, but very functional.SoftwareI have never been a fan of the HP print/scan software UI. The scanner has many features like the other ones but I am not paticularly impressed by it. It find the software bloated and not convenenient. But it serves my purpose very well and again at 7K, it is fantastic!

PROs:Good Flatbed printerCONs:Color cartridge finished after 40 prints. Got new one, that also finished in next 40 prints along with black cartridge. For 80 prints I have spent 1600 on cartridges apart from what was already given with the printer. This makes every color print 40 Rupees, the most expensive I have seen in my life.The normal 75 GSM A4 paper is actually becoming wet with the amount of ink its outputting onto it. So I cannot do duplex printing as its visible on the other side. Actually post printing I am spreading them out to dry.Just now while printing around 20 pages in duplex mode suddenly it printed a HP alignment paper and stopped. Had to redo everything.Yesterday while printing in the middle printer went to sleep.ADF Scans are always crooked, titled.Multiple times the printer goes into error state. Restarting printer fixes it.

Quality as expected. One star less because it could be less expensive.

Printing quality is low. The prints that we get from the ink Cartridge is very less in number. I got around 120 prints for black ink.Not happy with the product

The product itself is excellent — exactly as described, and a perfect fit for home use. I have no complaints about the product quality.But the delivery process was extremely disappointing and needs urgent improvement. Although the product was packed, it was kept directly under the blazing sun at the back of the delivery vehicle. When I opened the box, the printer was noticeably hot, which is completely unacceptable for sensitive electronic items.Even worse, I saw that other large orders — like TVs, washing machines, and other major appliances — were also handled the same careless way, fully exposed to direct sunlight without any basic protection. This is gross negligence. Such handling risks damaging expensive products before they even reach the customer.It is shocking that no simple steps, like covering the items with a sheet or ensuring proper shade, were taken. If this practice continues, it will result in serious product failures and customer dissatisfaction. Immediate action is required to fix this irresponsible delivery practice.Customers deserve much better.
