Melody Lee's poetry touches my heart and soul in so many ways. Her words transport me to places I have never been, in a mystic way, a spiritual way, a playful way, somewhere out of this world and into the deepest parts of my being. Her beautiful words touch my heart deep down where all of my love and compassion reside. She stirs my emotions and my feelings and I am mesmerized by it all. Poetry for the Poet -- An honest reviewI picked up a book that I found when seeking my kind.It was filled with prose and poetry, bits of a wild soul.I’d been off traveling to heal my wounds, my own soul to re-find.It felt as if I came home and discovered a stranger moved into my room.The stranger’s writings sound like they came from my mind.She goes by my name too, which is fine with me.I’ll pick a new one; been meaning to for some time.But what throws me the most is thatHer heart beats to the same drum beat as mine.We’re in rhythm across all this space;She’s poured for me my favorite wine.Her words rich like gems for a golden crownPlaced within Moon Gypsy, the balm that soothes me at last.Every journey I have been through expressed here;This Melody Lee knows my entire past.The Universe takes a deep breath;Once more, it has reminded me that it is vast.I’ve never been alone for this journey;You, soul sister, have always been writing to me.Thank you for showing up with courage,Putting all your words out there so I could beBrave, finding my voice is needed as wellAnd, at last, in verse and prose, set myself free.I bow with respect to you who have walked on ahead.I’ll dance along behind and litter the path with flame flowers.When you reach the crest of your next mountain, glance back at the valley—The trail will be glowing with flickers of your light.M. I am a proud owner of this book, and I am only halfway through! Each piece I’ve read touches a different piece of my heart, and makes it bleed gently. Specifically, “Spitfire", "Connections", "Rebel Animal, Heart Overflowing", "Wild", and, "Dreamer Girl”, vibrate inside my heart muscle fibers, as if Melody Lee had been hiding in there, or possessed my heart through the stars somehow, by the way she describes these spirits. The former portrays the rebel Floridian redhead in me, and the latter brings out my imaginative soul.Within my fanciful heart chamber, “Vibrational Pull", "Run Away with Me," and, "Internal Tattoo”, echo nostalgia and enchantment. These pieces remind me of the power and timelessness which is love.Driving home the impact of Melody Lee’s words, ensuring their spots in my heart, is the subtle rhyming and alliteration she uses at the right moments. This speaks to her enourmous natural talent. How do you even write a review for an amazing writer? I picked up this book because I saw a few of Melody's poems shared on social media. The day it came I sat out on my front step under the moon and devoured most of the book in a single sitting. Her words have a tidal pull to them, it is like she knows your heart and soul and draws on those internal thoughts and feelings. I have found such inspiration in her poetry and prose I've started painting and writing more myself. I've read the full book twice plus pulled a page out here and there to just savor.
