And you thought British women could only cook?
Crime stories written by members of the gentler(?) sex. These women combine beauty, brains and a propensity for crime. I bought the book because of Helen Smith and discovered more amazing authors. This is most definitely "a must have" for your library.

Hated it
These stories are so obscure and odd. Didn't enjoy this set at all. Not the crime stories I was looking forward to.

Hmmm
Feels too fictional, maybe it is fiction. I assumed it was true crime but this felt choppy, weird, disjointed, and missing alot

Superb Anthology!
This anthology contains 15 short stories by woman authors who can and do keep the reader guessing. Very diverse in content and length, all with a dark tone to them, its well on its way to becoming a classic. Carry this book with you to wait for an appointment or for a commute, you will be amazed at how quickly the wait time passes. I wouldn't recommend it for bed time reading as the mental images conjured up by these stories are pretty grim and might keep you awake. The short interviews with the authors located at the back are a very nice touch. I received a free copy of this book and believe me, it is a treasure!

I started reading this Killer Women: Crime Club Anthology #1 a while back. The fact that it's taken so long for me to get through it is certainly no reflection on the quality of the writing or my enjoyment of the stories. Sadly life (and other books) just kept getting in the way. I admit that I'm not usually one for short story collections. I tend to read full length novels, not even novellas. But having entered a reading slump recently, I realised it was time to get stuck into this anthology again. And this was the best thing I could have done. It was so easy to dip into whenever there was a spare moment and I could read a whole story at a time, feeling a sense of completion at the end. The Killer Women are an incredibly talented bunch of women. The stories in their collection are all very different, providing something for everyone. These twisted tales are full of shocks, surprises and dark humour. Some are chilling, some are creepy, some are stomach churning and some are totally offbeat and 'laugh out loud' reads. The Killer Women: Crime Club Anthology #1 is a fantastic introduction to 15 amazing authors and offers the reader great value for money. I'm assuming (and hoping) that there are more collections to come. Do I have a favourite story? Maybe. But my lips are sealed. Buy the book and work out which one is your favourite. I have no doubt that everyone will find their own. I received an Advance Reader Copy (but actually bought the e-book too).

Un'antologia di storie gialle, nere alcune con humour che hanno la particolarità di essere scritte tutte da donne

This is a wicked crop of 15 short stories by modern female crime writers, several of whom I’d read before but many more that I had not. Most of the stories are thrillingly entertaining, some are pretty funny and one or two of them are achingly heartbreaking. Several of the stories could even sustain longer books: I would quite happily read more about Seb and Lisa from Colette McBeth’s The Edge, Shirley from Stop the Pigeon by Louise Voss, DI Berenice Killick and DS Mary Ashcroft from Alison Joseph’s The Day of the Dead and Denise from Chance by Laura Wilson. All of the stories are worth reading but other particular highlights for me were Alex Marwood’s creepy On the Undercliff, Melanie McGrath’s hilariously twisted Schiaparelli Pink Bikini and Erin Kelly’s tragic Don’t Know Where, Don’t Know When. A few of the stories suffer a little simply from being in an anthology called Killer Women because it means you know something about what to expect and can take the edge off some of the twists. Nevertheless, this is a successful first anthology from the Killer Women and a great introduction to authors I will go on to read more from – and I have already bought Anthology #2!

Like the curate's egg - good in parts. Some good tales in this collection, but overall the quality is uneven. Some are predictable while others fail to impress because of the writing. The collection confirms that the short story presents a difficult challenge; some writers rise to it beautifully, but others struggle despite being highly successful in longer formats.
