Great book
I highly recommend this book if you are at all interested in dealing with insulin resistance. Easy delicious recipes and helpful exercises. Love it.

Great resource!
Full disclosure I am a Ben Bikman super fan! I listen to a lot of his work. Somehow, he has managed to break down his scientific knowledge in such an understandable way that even this history major enjoys it!This cookbook is a great complementary guide to go along with his original book “Why we get sick”. I like the intro chapters that boil down the science. I love how he offers different solutions, depending on your individual metabolic health. The book is also beautiful with great photographs and charts. From what I’ve tried of the recipes they are delicious (Creamy Garlic Shrimp, page 194 is amazing!). The recipes are simple enough to work for a novice cook but complex enough to pack a flavor punch! My one complaint is that there are lots of recipes that use artificial sweeteners like swerve but these can be easily adjusted if this is something you don’t want included in your diet. Also, I did find a recipe that included sesame oil, which was surprising as I thought that was on the list of seed oils to avoid. Overall, I really love this book.

I love the layout of this book, from the explanations and guide to help you figure out where you are currently at, to the wonderfully demonstrated fitness program suggestions, to the excellent recipes. This is the best designed "help" book. I thought it would be good because it is absolutely based on real science but the book is even better than I had hoped. If you have any metabolic health issues....GET THIS BOOK!

Low Carb diet… expected more depth
The book is fine for anyone that’s not familiar with general low carb “science”. But to most anyone that has watched Dr B on YouTube, there is very little if anything new here. I expected a more in depth look into research. Lots of recipes which may be helpful. Large section on exercise with nice photos is just filler for the vast majority of readers I would think.

Colourful, great recipes, and wonderful explanation of why you need to do this.
I read “Why We Get Sick” and listened to the podcasts and I had to get this. Am glad I did! Just got it today. The first half of the book is a wonderful explanation of why insulin resistance is so important to know. It’s a condensed version of “Why We Get Sick” with the most important bits to know. The latter half is a wonderful colourful cookbook. I am so excited! I am going to get my stepdad this book. I think he will really benefit from it. Brilliant.
