Bob's Red Mill Nutritional Yeast, 5oz (Pack of 1) - Vegan, Paleo Friendly, Kosher

I've never tried nutritional yeast prior to today. When looking for an option to buy there were so many to choose from and I finally decided on this brand because it seems to have a good reputation for quality. My delivery came in just in time to include some as a topping for my roasted broccoli at lunch. I was quite pleased. It really does have a cheesy flavor and added a bit something extra in addition to the protein that I wanted. I like this product and would buy it again.

I used this to be part of making a vegan broccoli cheddar version soup. I must say it tasted exactly like what I remember broccoli cheddar soup to taste like before going vegan. Would love a larger bag if this to keep on hand.

Here's a tasty recipe; Toast a split whole wheat English Muffin (I prefer the Whole Foods Market 365 brand) until brown and a little bit crispy. Drizzle each "face" with your favorite Olive Oil to taste, (I divide one tsp). Spread with the back of your spoon. Sprinkle each toasted half with "Bob's Red Mill Large Flake Nutritional Yeast " and enjoy. [I also top with the following: Chop 1-2 hard boiled egg(s), moisten with 1/2-1 tsp olive oil and dollup of Plain Yogurt. Pile onto the (above) toasted muffin. Yum..

This brand has a good name and is employee owned. I trust the ingredients.

What can I say... Bob's Red MIll products are consistently good and they are a good company. I mix the yeast with cheddar cheese powder and use it on popcorn and steamed fresh vegetables.

I bought this to try something new, aside from the nutrition. Texture is like a dry crumbly flake, and it sticks somewhat to things like popcorn. For me, it does not have a strong flavor. It tastes like a really mild version of an aged cheese, and it has a slight savory / umami quality, and not much of a salty flavor. I can stick a spoonful in my mouth and eat it. I put a couple scoops into a small bowl of salted peanuts and ate it with a spoon (ya weird I know), and it didn't taste much different than just the peanuts alone. Even though it doesn't have much flavor, I still give it 5 stars because it isn't overpowering, I can eat it without any effects, and it has good nutritional value.

I had been searching for this in all my usual stores and it was out of stock. So I was surprised to find it available here and immediately bought 2 pouches. It is a very useful cheese flavour substitute for my vegan cooking and provides a boost to B12 for non meat eaters. Avoid if you are yeast free (candida diet).

Nice with beverages and salds. taste like cheese. I've been adding to my moring smoothies.
