My favorite Instrument cables - wish they made them in dual right angle.
SUMMARY These are my favorite cables. They don't break the bank, but aren't cheapo. The clip-on tie proves to be more useful than you would expect, especially if you gig. Buy it - and enjoy for a long time. PROs - Never have to tighten the molded plug covers. - Cable is a good quality, fairly heavy gauge material - Includes a clip on "bungee cord" cable tie -- VERY HANDY -- I wish I could buy a bag of those and clip them on other cables - Seem to last as well or better than other instrument cables I have CONs - Lack of a dual right angle plug option - Lack of a 25' length NEUTRAL - Gold coated plugs. Makes no difference at all...conducts electricity, just like the silver ones. - Bungee cord cable ties do stretch out over time and become useless. But they work for quite a while and you can buy replacements from D'addario though, which is actually awesome. DETAILS I've been playing for about 30 years and these are my favorite cables. I've owned all sorts of cables. some had metal casings around the plugs in flatter configurations, or round metal casings. Some were metal with plastic coating, some are molded plastic. I have had cloth covered cables, rubber covered cables, plastic covered cables and cables of various gauges. I've had gold plugs, silver plugs, smooth plugs and ribbed plugs. I've had $5 cables and $55 cables...bargain basement and mogami. These are the cables that I find myself grabbing for - they seem stay to in place well when plugged in, don't have problems with the cable wanting to coil, twist or tangle, and they have a very handle cable tie (Like a little clip on bungee cord), that turns out to be very useful and a lot quicker than hunting for a velcro cable tie. Seem to hold up as well or better than the others I've had. I've also tried the planet waves CLASSIC series and had problems with those always wanting to tangle up, so I do NOT recommend the CLASSIC series -- the cable is thinner and cheaper and it is always tangled. This CUSTOM series is much better.

VERY well insulated - silent & sturdy!!
Got this to replace my now old Horizon/Switchcraft 1/4" TRS instrument cable, that one had been stretched at some point thus shearing its internal insulation somewhere down the cable causing some strong noise. This cable is fantastic, nice and thick insulation makes it silent and reduces chance of stretching it. The ends are bulky which is nice for plugging/unplugging but can get cumbersome. Sadly the ends aren't servicable but oh well, they're built so well I doubt I'll need to replace this in the next 8 years. Here's the interesting part, I'm using it to power my Line 6 Variax guitar which is fed 9V DC through the ring of a TRS instrument cable. Coincidentally this is the "new"/updated "Planet Waves" product, the Variaxes originally cake with Planet Waves TRS cables to power them but they suffer failure often being so thin and the ends being unservicable. So even with me feeding 9V DC through 8t this cable is SILENT, super happy!!

Best possible instrument cable for the money!
I play bass. My other main cable is like a $70 cable, and while it still works perfectly, I found myself needing an affordable backup that has a right angle because it would fit my basses better. Having fallen in love with D'Addario products, this is the one I went for. Little did I know, I would start using this cable all of the time as my main cable! To start, the sound quality is just as nice as my expensive cable and it seems to have the same quality of connectors. It's the perfect material/flexbility, and doesn't seem to tangle like other cables I own. Lastly, the right angle jack is the ideal profile for my basses. I am so happy! I will continue to buy these cables again and again. Planning to grab one of the straight-to-straight ones, too. Before you go and buy one of the super high end $60-$80 instrument cables, consider buying these because D'Addario managed to pack everything you would need into this line of cables.

Good Value & Price - Lifetime Warranty
Probably the best single thing this cable has going for it is the Lifetime Warranty. I have owned Planet Waves cables in the past and twice I have sent them back for replacement...no problems whatsoever. For the price you are paying (about $1 dollar per foot) you get good quality cable, good cores and shielding with heavy duty retention at the jack connector ends. Not the best, but not the worst. Good enough for live stage gigging and probably won't notice much difference if you are recording. I haven't noticed any RF hum or noise when moving about with these cables. They also come with a set of colored bands so you can easily identify which cable goes to where, cable owner, etc. Affordable price and lifetime warranty make this a "feel good" purchase. I would recommend these cables and will buy again.

Cable broke after less than 3 months use.
Surprised that the cable broke. The connector into the guitar broke off from the cable while playing. Given the light use of the cable I believe it to be a manufacturing defect. As a beginner guitarist I am looking for quality products that I plan to continue to purchase over the course of my learning/playing. I did like the performance while it worked. I also use D'Addario strings on both my electric and acoustic guitars. My hope is that D'Addario sees this product complaint and sends a new cable to replace this broken one. ***UPDATE TO 5 STARS*** outstanding customer service. I reached out directly to customer service with a description of my issue and a photo of the cable via D'Addario's website and was contacted within 24 hours via email. Customer service sent me let me know that the cable was guaranteed and replaced it with an upgrade (for the inconvenience)! Received within 2 days. Well done.

These work beautifully as interface-to-studio monitor cables!
I have a 25' TRS Stereo/Balanced pair of these connecting my Focusrite interface to my studio monitors, and they work really well! Absolutely ZERO noise or interference running from one side of the room to the other, where other cables that I tried picked up a gross amount of noise in the same setup. So I just want to put it out there that even though these are labeled as "instrument' cables, the TRS Balanced Stereo ones work awesome for home studio connections where applicable - especially in cases where you are getting interference through your speakers from scrolling on your monitor screen/etc. Also super-nice construction quality! 5 out of 5! P.S.: Don't buy the mono/TS ones and try to hook up TRS/balanced equipment with them. By way of contrast, the stereo/TRS ones are probably a little overkill for mono instrument connections, and your battery-operated pedals will be thrown off by the TRS connection on the stereo input jacks with regard to the 9v battery "auto-unplug-cutoff". But for most people who use a power supply with their pedals, you'll just be extra-grounded using the stereo TRS ones with your guitar. Did you get all of that? Cool.

A solid replacement for old Planetwaves cables
I've had some of my old Planetwaves instrument cables for 20 years now without them failing. They've been on tours in hot trailers, abused on stage and during practice, and just refuse to die. I needed to set up a new pedalboard in a practice space and needed a few more cables with right angles for a new pedalboard and was sad to see that they'd stopped making these cables. Luckily, these D'addario updates seem to be near perfect duplicates of the Planetwaves ones they replaced. The only difference I can see is the lack of the little ribs the old cables had along the shaft of the plug that were intended to give a snugger fit in a jack. That wasn't a deal-breaker for me, but I do miss that extra grip.
