Great Tool
This infrared thermometer does exactly what it is intended to do and does it very well. The kit comes with two AA batteries, which I thought was very thoughtful and got me using the tool just seconds after I opened the box. First thing to notice is that when the trigger is pulled to get a temperature reading, a red dot with 12 similar red dots arranged in a circle appear where the thermometer is pointed. This is great because it not only shows the pinpoint location of the center of the reading, it gives an approximation of the overall all measured area. This equates to a circle diameter of about 1 inch when the thermometer is about 1 foot away from the measured object. The digital display is large and easy to read and the buttons are intuitive. I easily switched from Celsius to Fahrenheit, set the data hold, and view max/min temperatures. I measured various things around the house to test; hot water, cold water, hot stovetop, porcelain tile, wood, fire, etc., and the measurements were in the range that I would expect. I can't wait to use this on engine troubleshooting to measure exhaust leaks, or surface temperature of a grilled steak for a perfect sear...the uses are endless.

Easy to use
This item is very nicely priced and great for checking temperatures on a wide variety of things. I use this to test auto A/C and heating systems mostly. The display is easy to read and switch between centigrade and farenheit. The one thing that I did notice is that when measuring cold temperatures, such as an auto AC, the number on the gauge will continue to drop, even after my backup analog stick probe thermometer levels off at around 18F. According to this unit, after 20 seconds of holding the trigger down, my car's AC was blowing -55F. A slightly more expensive digital thermometer also read 18F, this unit read 18F initially as well, but the reading kept dropping. It's accurate enough and I suppose my application of 20 seconds continuous read is an edge case.

Very convenient tool to have on hand, gives near instant feedback
This thermometer works great and gives near instant feedback. Unlike most infrared thermometers, this one emits numerous beams to average the temps to ensure you are not just beaming a hotspot. It also gives you an audible tone when the temp stabilizes.

Thermal Shock
I do a lot of work on different kinds of motors for cars, trucks, boats, lawn equipment etc. I also do a good bit of work on electronics. Sometimes it is very helpful to know what the operating temperature is of something. It could be a cylinder head, a wheel bearing or an operating computer. Most of what I need is a base line temperature and not something very precise so I have not done any precision temperature checks on this device. That being said, it does appear to be fairly accurate. The unit I got has a range of -58 to 1022 degress F. I can take a temp, get a reading and take the temp again and get the same reading over and over. So this does seem to be consistant which is important. The main thing is to take your reading the same distance from the surface you are testing. To use this couldn't be easier. Once the batteries have been installed, just point and pull the trigger. One of the nice features is I can scan an engine block by holding the trigger and slowly sweep the block looking for hot spots. If you want, the device can be calibrated. The instructions on how are in the instruction manual. It has several "modes"; "At"= current temperature of surface being scanned, "MAX" = Maximum temperature of surface and "MIN" = Minnimum temerature of surface. This device has several uses for me around the house. I just wish I had gotten one sooner.

Easy to use basic digital temperature gun
This is really easy to use - I'm using it to check the temperature of candle wax before mixing colors and fragrances, and before pouring. So far, the temperatures seem to be accurate. It does feel a little cheap, but it's working as expected.
