Gets to the heart of the Tao Te Ching.
A short introduction by August Gold says that this book - this translation - will change your life. I will not comment on the excellent translation as this is a matter of personal taste. However, I did like it., and Jonathan Star gives us the most direct (and perhaps easy to understand) version I have come across. Far from merely being 'simplified' this version gets to the heart of the Tao Te Ching - which initself is incredible. You could start with this version and, if you wish to study more, try other versions.

Translations takes too many liberties with interpretations for my taste. BTW I speak and read fluent chinese.

for the student
complex, for the student of the Tao who wants to nit pick each and every word and take a lot of time to work out the meaning of each verse for him/herself instead of relying on someone else's version. Very good... but I bought a simple version too, not being an academic of the Tao TE Ching myself!

Many notes and details
Absolutely great translation. It has the radicals at the back and many notes. If you want to get yourself a better understanding of the Tao, then this is the book for you！
