The original battery was a 2500MAh battery, this battery is a 2200MAh battery. It's also approximately 1V less.That said, the battery is performing well. If I'm capable of getting the life out of this battery that I got out of the original, I'll be happy. The hardest part of installation was getting the back of the laptop off, the second hardest part was not losing the screws.

Compatibility:This is my second replacement battery of the exact same model from this vendor. It works. The first replacement lasted about four and a half years of near constant use.

After 5 years with the original battery, my Acer 5742G started reporting in Windows that the battery should be replaced.This one has some better reviews compared to many other 3rd party batteries. It shipped and arrived pretty quickly. Installation was pretty easy and it fit in the battery compartment quite well. The only issue is that it will not allow the battery lock latch to be closed. I thought I was not putting it properly but after looking at the battery notch for the lock on the new battery it is every so slightly off by a few mm. Does not bother me since I rarely use this battery outside of the house and it has worked perfectly for me. Since I keep the laptop in a performance based profile I get about 80 minutes out of it. Does not bother me since I mostly want to be able to have battery powerful in case of a power failure and to be able to work briefly somewhere else. Working for a long period away from an outlet is not my main reason for buying it.A good purchase if you just need to get a replacement battery.

I’ve had this replacement battery for several months and it is in great shape. Very happy with it especially after previous replacement batteries that have been subpar. For maximum performance I recommend not keeping the laptop plugged in all the time. I set a low battery alert for 30% and then try and unplug it at around 80%. This has worked well.

This battery didn't last more than a day or so with the laptop turned off, probably defective.
