Exactly as Described
The remote could’ve been packaged a little better. Came in a small commercial style barcoded ziplock bag inside a bubble envelope. It’s made of ,as expected, cheap plastic and is very light weight. The buttons are “a little stiff” for lack of a better description but as is with all new remotes which tells me it’s not used and it has no visible signs of prior use. It uses two AAA batteries (not included). The battery compartment’s wires aren’t structured the best so be sure they are touching in the middle of each battery end, I just gently rolled my batteries after installation to ensure a secure connection. The battery cover is secure and easy to remove and replace. I do not have to press the buttons down hard in order for it to work. Due to the sub par manufacturing this may not be the case for everyone in which I would just request a replacement until I got one to my satisfaction. Luckily my remote functions work fine for now. Literally load batteries point and press power and voilà. I have a Phillips DVD Player DVP 3962 which is located on the front of my DVD Player on the disk tray door. Mine has not had a lot of abuse, so I dont know if that can rub off or if it’s printed anywhere else on the player (I assume it would be but who knows). Best bet is to research and find same brand that looks the same and plays the same kind of DVDs. Mine is NOT a blue-ray disk player. I think those require a different kind of remote. I hope I covered everything important, I know it’s long but I personally appreciate detailed reviews. I suppose since it works it was worth the $12…. I did see one also supposed to work with my player for almost half the price but there were no reviews. The manufacturing and material of this is worth less than the cost however when it’s old, you need it and are having trouble finding it… it’s worth the extra $5.

works right out of the bag!
Why didn't I know about this earlier! I have a region free Philips DVD player that I brought back from Asia to watch my DVDs from there. The remote dead a couple years ago and since the unit came from overseas I didn't think it would be possible to get a replacement for it. I don't even know the model numbers. I had purchased a couple different universal remotes and even thought I was able to pair them to the player, they only function as a power and rewind/fast forward. It had just been a pain, especially on the audio. This one has a button to change languages (which most of my foreign DVDs have) and a subtitle button. All the universal remotes I have or looked at do NOT have these. You almost have to do back flips to get the language changed. As I said I didn't even know the model number of my player but the remote looked exactly like this one so I took a chance because I saw it had an audio button. This one came out of the bag (no, no fancy packaging or box or instructions, I put batteries in and it worked! Just like that!! No messing with coding or anything. I am very happy I stumbled into this. Also got it quickly.

Works on my DVD player as described
The description for the remote indicated it worked with my model Philips DVD player. It did not disappoint. It controls all the functions necessary.

New and works well
It's a new OEM item for an old model of Philips DVD player. We like this model a lot and had to find it used. Glad that the remote control is available on Amazon. It works seamlessly with the DVD player.

Comes ready programmed
But it says nothing about it. No instructions. Seller was responsive to my query.

I was given a dvd player for my camper but it came with no remote. Bought this remote, recieved it in two days, opened the box, put in two batteries and viola! Pointed it at the dvd player and it started up immediately. Remote is SUPER great. Easy! Perfect!

Works Good but Made Cheap
The item works good with the player but the plastic battery cover broke when I took it off to put batteries in. Cheap plastic. Will have to tape the cover on.
