The Complete Warner Classics Recordings

I bought this just for the Beethoven CD but it's a great intro to this brilliant pianist.Having listened to several versions of Beethoven's Piano Concerto no. 4 I came to appreciate how wonderful her interpretations of the classical genre are.Magical and good quality recordings and at a very affordable price.

We live in an era with some superlative female pianists. Mitsuko Uchida is unmatched as a performer of Mozart's sonatas and concertos, while the French pianist Helene Grimaud is a wonderful performer across the whole repertoire. This box set will serve as a perfect introduction for those unfamiliar with her work. Her Beethoven's fourth, for instance - bold and eloquent, and with a rare sensitivity too - is unmatched, even by the likes of Barenboim and Brendel. And there are other delights, including the Schumann, Gershwin, Ravel, Rachmaninov 2 and Brahms 1. It's a pity that her recording of the second Brahms is currently unavailable as a a separate CD, and you can only buy it coupled with the first. There are a few other bits and pieces, including a couple of late Beethoven sonatas, that go to make this very worthwhile buy.

Ms Grimaud is, quite possibly, the finest classical pianist playing today. Her interpretations here are superb and show off her range. She is capable of immense finesse and physical attack. Her playing of the Rachmaninov Second Piano concerto is wonderful. I haven't heard anything to equal it since the days of Earl Wild. A great starter collection for someone wanting to introduce themselves to some great pieces and great playing.

Los dos Brahms aquí grabados, junto con el Beethoven, me parecen lecturas muy ortodoxas y brillantes. Muy recomendable. No están nada mal el Ravel y el Gershwin, Me ha gustado especialmente el concierto para piano de Schumann, pero es que éste concierto me gusta en cualquier versión. Muy acertado el Rachmaninov final.

On ne se lasse pas d'écouter cette très grande pianiste.
