BIG KNIFE but lightweight
I have the Shizuku Noh Ken and compared to that, this Goken by James Williams is actually a lot bigger than that knife. Although they are the same if not almost the same blade length, where this Goken stands out is how much blade there is for a pocket knife. The tanto style blade is perfect for me. I like the quality and feel of the G10 handles. For the price, this folding knife is a must have in your collection. I have taken the knife apart by its special take down feature, and put it back together only to find the knife working as intended, maybe a little better. (I probably loosened something in the process) Since this is a knife that you can take apart, note that it is NOT spring assisted. The flipper is the knife's only action to open and is the only way I think even to get a fast opening, compared to a thumb stud. The Goken is a remarkable pocket knife for self defense. Something for EDC use like cutting open boxes or other utilitarian things, it might not be the best in performance. I did however used this knife to cut open 1 box only, because I want to preserve the blade sharpness as it came super sharp. This is CRKT's newest, I believe, James Williams design knife to date. I'm surprised no one's posted any pictures on this pretty badass knife as well. I have other CRKT knives, however, they rotate within my EDC and for most of my needs, I don't handle boxes, packages, etc all day or every day. So with this in the picture, it's most definitely my EDC/self-defense go to.

Excellent edc!
Such a great edc knife, liner lock was a little stiff at first but worked out with a little use. Slim, lightweight, & the blade seems effecitve without being a sword. Quick disassembly is much more useful than I gave the idea credit for. Very pleased

Over Priced
Like the look & design of the knife. Knife is a little stiff to open. Hard to get the locking mechanism to lock the knife after field stripped. Hopefully once broke in it gets better.

Awesome knife, plain and simple.
Not sure whats up with all the “knife snob” negative reviews on here about this knife. Its quality, its very unique....its awesome. Its quite a bit bigger than i expected it to be, but thankfully not to heavy due to the slim and sleek blade design and lightweight handle materials. Good defensive blade, conversation piece and maybe even EDC/utility knife. Unique takedown system for disassembly and cleaning is just icing on the cake. If there is one slightly negative thing i could say it is that after disassembly, sometimes its a little tricky to get it all back together. The more times i do it though the easier it gets, so its probably more just me than the knife. Price is about on par with a knife of this quality and design. Not necessarily a bargain, but not a ripoff either. If you’re on the fence, get it....you wont be disappointed!

Very easy to clean and field strip.
I really like the looks of this knife. The G10 handles feel great and the ability to field strip makes it all the more convenient to clean and preform maintenance on this knife. It came razor sharp out of the box. You can also switch the pocket clip from right to left. The only problem that I have is that it does not completely open with the flipper you also have to use a wrist flick for the blade to lock.

Nice blade shape, poor blade lock
Love the blade shape and feel. Show stopping problem for me is when I snap it open, the blade lock get stuck past the point when I can disengage it with my thumb. I am then unable to close it without a tool to pry it back. I would carry it otherwise, is a waste as is.

Goken Great for EDC
Great edc knife , I usually carry the Otanashi , as soon as I got the Goken I couldn’t make up my mind and carried both, now I find myself carrying the Goken more since it’s so light and the G10 grips fit nicely in my hand ,

Awesome Blade!
Williams did an amazing job with this knife. Extremely light weight, with a solid lock-up - this blade is smooth on deployment. The take down/field strip feature shoots this knife to the five star mark. With fantasic ergonomics, great steel, and revolutionary field strip tech meets an ancient blade design - what's not to like? I have all kinds of blades from some serious custom and premium blade makers - at the moment, this one is in my pocket.
