Monk: Season 2

OCD Genius
Tony Shalhoub plays Adrian Monk, an OCD genius detective that consults on police investigations. Monk originally was a police detective but was shattered when his wife was murdered and left the force. Monk and Sharona travel to Mexico to attempt to solve murder, they travel to the fair, to his wife's school, Mr. Monk is presumed dead at one point. Sharona also faces personal issues, as her sister is accused of murder, her ex-husband returns and she gets involved with the deputy mayor. This season also shows the introduction of Mr. Monk's greatest fan, played by Sarah Silverman. Through it all, Monk never stops trying to solve his wife's murder. A dynamic and hilarious season.

Agatha Christie Move Over
Everything about Season Two of this show only serves to confirm my view that Monk is much closer to Christie's Poirot than to Conan Doyle's Holmes. The only think that keeps me from laughing out loud at his fussiness and his nervous reactions to almost everything in the real world other than murder clues is the deep-seated suspicion I share all too many of those 'character flaws'. Ouch. That's the genius of the creator, the writers, and Tony Shaloub--that they manage (as did Christie) to make light of the investigative process without making fun of it. Brilliant. Pressed to pick a favorite show from the season I'd have to go with the Three Pies episode with guest star John Turturro bringing his own genius to bear as Ambrose Monk, Adrian's equally off-kilter brother. Of course in a close second place is that star-studded season finale with Tim Curry, Kathy Baker, and Danny Trejo. I'm so glad there's more to come.

New isn't always better.
Awesome to find out I could buy used items on Amazon. I just moved to the country and have no cable. Since I'm on a budget I have been buying different seasons on DVD. To this point I have been pleased with every purchase. Thanks Amazon for this option.

If You Paid Attention You'd Be Worried Too!
Season 2 of this remarkable series continues to deliver enjoyment, laughs and wonderful entertainment. The acting is exceptional and I could watch and re-watch time and time again. When the show first debuted, I never watched and the only explanation I can think of is that I mistakenly was watching something else, which I know now, was a mistake as this is one of the best shows ever!I will continue to purchase every season and am assured it will not disappoint!

3.5 stars would be more accurate but don't get me wrong
Monk is light entertainment and it really does have its moments, thanks to Shalhoub's quirky acting for a quirky guy - or is everybody in San Fran like that?I'm a Law & Order fan and there is no way that you can compare L&O's depth of its plots and drama to Monk. But there are times late at night where you're too past it for serious. This fits into that slot for us.The fact that we watched season 1 and then went ahead afterward and got season 2 means that there's something of value here.

Monk Season 2
Monk series 2 continues where season 1 left off with all the same cast. The theme tune has changed and this fact is played on in one of the episodes involving a TV star, which is funny. We learn more about Monk's family and how he was brought up. We meet his brother who also has issues, and we learn more about how Monk's beloved Trudy died. There are some inconsistences with Monk's OCD but these are easily overlooked. This is a terrific series and I was pleased with the speed in which Amazon delivered it. I look forward to purchasing the rest asap

Why is this rarely on TV now?
Missed the repeats being on TV so started to collect affordable used Monk series. You have heard of easy listening but this is easy viewing and a great show to watch again except you know what happens.
