Runs a Little Hot
Read/Write speeds are exactly as advertised, limited to around 1000 MB/s courtesy of USB 3.2. As for cooling, don't forget to attach the provided heatsink... as I did... Anyway, even with the heatsink it does run on the hot side. My WD Black hovers around 55*C on sensor two and 71*C on sensor one. This is within the safe maximum operating temperature for this drive, so while the drive remains functional, picking it up with my hand does hurt.

Doesn't stay closed, nice looking, good quality, gets warm
I had a spare SSD that needed an enclosure. This seemed to be a great solution. It certainly looks nice. It's very easy to install the SSD into this enclosure. But, there are a couple of problems. When I try to use the included heat transfer pad and the aluminum heat sink, the cover doesn't close all the way. Using just the heat transfer pad, the cover makes contact with the pad and I presume that will be sufficient. The outside of the enclosure gets very warm, so I'm assuming that the heat is being dissipated. But even when the enclosure is empty, the cover doesn't want to stay on. Any casual brushing causes the cover to come off. I've had to resort to applying tape to keep it closed. The enclosure seems to be a bit bigger than it needs to be. There is extra room on both sides of the SSD inside the enclosure. Since there isn't any air movement, the added space can't be for heat dissipation. I'm expecting that the extra size is so that it's a square as that might look more pleasing. Transfer rates are good. But some of that is dependent on the SSD being installed. Having said that, using the high speed USB interface makes this a very fast disk. This was fairly inexpensive. I compared it with other SSD enclosures of the same type. The price of this one wasn't out of range of the others. The prepopulated review ideas suggests commenting on noise. But I expect that everyone should know that this enclosure doesn't have any moving parts. The SSD doesn't have any moving parts. As far as I am aware, there isn't anything in this combination the could make noise. I held it up to my ear and wasn't even able to hear any buzz.

Almost perfect, and good enough for five stars.
I debated whether to give this four stars or five. I'd considered four because of the one thing I don't like about it: there's no way to secure the case. Sure, the description says that this is toolless, but usually there's a sliding latch or something to keep it closed. The door is held closed with a spring-loaded metal ball. This means that if the enclosure is dropped, the cover will likely pop off. Other than that, I'd gladly give it five stars - it's rugged, solid, has some heft to it, it dissipates heat well, it's fast, and it's a very reasonable price.

Very wonderful item
Loved the item, How it looks, how it works. The speeds are as expected. I wanted this to replace my ssd flash disk because it loses speed shortly after sending some GBs so I wanted something that could keep up with all the space I have. This item was able to do that. Maiwo is always a good brand for me. They have never let me down.

Very functional
It does get very warm to the touch when operating. This is to be expected. The metal case seems to work fairly well at radiating heat. When I'm concerned the heat might be an issue, I also set up a small fan next to it to improve heat dissapation. So far the heat doesn't seem to have ever been a real problem. The thermal conduction setup between the drive is finnicky to assemble but does seem to work fine. The conduction pad is supposed to stick to the drive, but mine had no adhesive to it, so I just carefully placed it in the right spot and avoided letting it slip around while I clamped the lid on the case. It's not ideal, especially if you want to change the drive frequently. That would be the case even if the adhesive was working as specified though.

Perfect 2230 SSD enclosure
There are probably smaller/faster enclosures out there but I bought this one for like $20 on a whim and it’s been rock solid. I have used it with windows/mac/ipad/iPhone/linux and had 0 hiccups. The way everything is put together is great, good build quality!

I use this as an external SSD to record 6K B-RAW Q0 and 3:1 with SP 1TB 2230 NVMe Drive. No issues. But you will need a proper high-speed USB-C cable. The USB cable will make the difference. The bottleneck will be the cable. The best cables from SmallRig and Tilta will not allow recording above 5:1 or Q1. you need a short USB-C 4.0 240W cable like one of these from Qianrenon on Amazon Cable: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0CL4XCYVB?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title Drive: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0CCDBKKZY?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1 (1 or 2TB)

The device is faulty, not detecting SSD. The SSD is detecting in other enclosure. There is no option to return item. Pure wastage of money.

This is a nice sleek little solid state drive. I love the machined aluminum enclosure on it, it feels really high-end and provides some nice heat dissipation for this unit. It seems to hit pretty good speeds on my laptop, I don't have a USB 3.2 port so I wasn't able to test its full speed, but even on my old USB 3.0 ports I was able to hit speeds of over 100 MB per second. I'll note that my computer doesn't read it as being 512 GB, but rather 476 GB. This is fairly normal as there's a difference between how gigabytes are calculated and how your computer reads them. A little annoying, but it's very normal for these types of hard drives. I love the little cable that comes with it and that it comes with a little plastic clip to hold it tight together, you can even attach it to the carrying strap of this drive so you can keep everything nicely together. Overall I'm very happy with this little drive and I would definitely recommend it!

This SSD is alright, it's small & compact, it adds a reasonable amount of storage, but I don't know if it's the best option for some people. For the price you're paying, you could get a quality m.2 with an external case adapter that would do better than this does, but the downside to that would be that it's less rugged. The SSD in this might not be of the greatest quality as it gets quite hot & the speeds are alright but not great, It would definitely be a decent option if you have no other option than to use an external SSD & need something that you can just throw in a bag & not have to worry about. The heat generated during use is a little bit worrying, while not too hot, It's hot enough new that It worries me that it won't last too long, especially if it gets even hotter after a while. Overall, It's an alright option for some use cases, If you're looking to upgrade the storage of something you don't move around a lot though, I think you should go with an M.2 SSD & an external case instead for a better result.
