Assessment of the aggression of the Rubabmen July 2024 edition is pretty straightforward.This razor with a weight of 55 gms is a mild razor. Possibly too mild for me. The head and plate are wonderfully inspired by tech (to some extent), it has 4 corner posts with a single screw and blade is held quite well. In fact, the clamp actually bends the blade to some extent thereby allowing a chatter free experience. It reminded me of Yaqi Telstar, Wolfman and Baili. I have not used the Wolfman.The chatter free experience gets enhanced by the fact that the exposure is almost negative to neutral. This is rare. The window to achieve the desired cutting action is quite small (similar to Henson) and if you are not getting it, it won't cut resulting in lather strokes all around. But when you do, the razor does cut well - smooth and (very) mild action.The razor is not a single pass shaver (for me), but if you like the 2-3-4-5 pass routine, this can be an auto mode razor. With the right technique (and practice), bbs can be achieved.The length of the handle is decent - it is a short razor and the knurling is quite good.Surprisingly, the weight of the head and base plate is almost same as the handle. The former (in toto) is 27gms while the latter is 28gms. The negative to neutral exposure clubbed with this weight balance makes it a unique razor (for me).Supermax diamond edge is my go to blade. It was an alright combination for me (with this razor). I suspect, the razor would offer better efficiency with sharper blades.I found no problem in loading the blade, alignment of the blade or the blade exposure. - I had ordered two items. Both of them were received in open-box condition. One side of the box was opened and the plastic bag inside which the product was kept was also opened.- The product quality seems to be okay. The overall product is comparatively little heavy.- The handle is bit smaller. Hence it makes it uncomfortable to hold the razor and affects the balance and grip of the razor. The handle should have been longer by 10-12 mm to give a better grip and hold of the razor.- The packaging is very basic compared to the price of the product. You get the razor kept in a transparent plastic bag inside a thick paper box.

Interestingly, if you slightly unscrew the handle (about half a turn), you can increase its aggressiveness without compromising blade clamping. It effectively handled two days of hair growth and felt smoother compared to the Gillette Sterling. I achieved a nick-free shave, though there was some feedback on my neck after applying aftershave lotion. The knurling on the handle is good, providing a secure grip even with wet fingers. Priced at ₹340, it serves as a solid daily shaver. Despite my preference for more aggressive razors, this one performed impressively.Regarding the blade, I’ve heard that VI John chrome is similar to Bic chrome; however, I find Bic to be a bit smoother. Both blades are sharp, but Bic offers less blade feel than VI John. Notably, Bic is about 20 times pricier than VI John, so I will stick with the desi blade for now. I plan to try the Bic blade with different razors.Overall, the shaving experience was enjoyable as always.Happy shaving!
