I’m shocked, it actually works.
I’m a mom of multiple kids, FT job and just a busy, anxious person. I carry so much tension in my back, shoulders and neck. I get frequent headaches, dizziness and a foggy head. I purchased this out of desperation for relief. The first 3 minutes is pretty horrible, but then it starts to subside. You get the most incredible warm sensation that spreads over your back. I’ve only used it 2 days, and can tell you I almost fell asleep both times. My body feels relaxed to the point I wanted to use my chiropractor cervical adjustment pillow. I usually can only tolerate 2-5 min before I feel nauseous. I had zero discomfort and used it for 10 min. So I used the acupressure pad and pillow for 10 min, removed the pillow and began using my cervical adjustment pillow with the pad for another 10 and experienced zero discomfort. I had no tension around my head as well. Praying that I’ve finally found the missing piece to the puzzle. I offered my mother to try this (she was experiencing lumbar pain) she said her pain eased up and even wants to buy my set. So I’ll be purchasing another set. I may even look for one with a higher intensity. I’m just a normal mom, zero sponsorship.

Pain from spike mats goes away after a minute...along with the back and neck pain!
Received this for Christmas. I'm 46 years old, around 180-190 pounds. Generally in pretty decent shape. I used to work outside on traffic signals but now I spend more time at a desk as a sales rep. I have a lot tight muscles in my back and neck, and there's almost always at least a dull ache back there. Since day 1 I've lain on the mat without a short...I was certain I would be bleeding when I got up but to my surprise, the tiny little spikes never broke the skin anywhere (and still haven't...now I lay on it at least once a day for 40 minutes) The initial minute or so was VERY uncomfortable, but after that it's almost unnoticeable. Using the pillow took more time and trial and error, but I'm now using it as well daily. Results: back and neck muscles are definitely not as tight, and I almost fall asleep on the mat. I 100% recommend this mat and pillow, and have a little faith in your skin...lay on it bare back to get the most out of it. TLDR: stops hurting after a minute, so those saying otherwise I assume gave up before it stopped. 100% works for loosening up tight back muscles, and it's even worked out a few myofacial trigger points along the way

Great value for the money
Takes a minute to get used to and i definitely can’t lay on it with bare skin but it’s relaxing and helps with recovery. I wear thinner yoga pants and a similar type shirt. It’s not super fancy but really excellent for the price. I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to put my neck/head on the pillow. It is agonizing so fast, I can barely last a minute! I have found that it feels great under my bare feet when I’m sitting though! Lost a star because it’s so easy to stab yourself moving it around.

Actually worked. I am fairly surprised. Great product.
It is nothing fancy. Cloth, some padding, and upside down plastic golf cleats(joking)? I was not expecting much honestly and was ready to return. Received them today. A job made my lower back sore early in the day. I was like no time better than now to find out if it works. Surprisingly, it did. Major reduction, not fully eliminated, but honestly surprised by how much it reduced the radiating pain. Thanks for the rare surprised of a cheaply priced good product. Was $15.

After one year of use, I can say that this helps in many ways!
I've had this for about a year now and decided to write a review. I bought a used one on Amazon Resale because it was about $10 cheaper than buying a new one. Although it wasn't sent in the original packaging, the item was almost new, had no stains or defects, and was in good condition. I lead an active life, playing sports and exercising every day, but maybe because now that I'm in my 50s, I often have pain and ailments all over my body. I've been trying out various recovery items and I decided to give this item a try after reading positive reviews. At first, it was too painful to use this on my bare skin, so I had to lie down for about a minute with a thin tank top on. All I felt was pain and didn't feel any comfort first, but after using it 2-3 times a week for a few months, I was able to lie on my bare skin without feeling like I am hurting myself. I continued this for a year and now I feel so good that I fall asleep after about 10 minutes of lying on my bare skin. I can sleep on the mat for about 45 minutes. This is a guaranteed way for me to have a power nap after a vigorous exercise and I feel refreshed when I wake up. Also, it seems to help pain in my back or buttocks when I sleep on it. Every time I use this item. I feel a great sense of refreshment and relaxation that nothing else can provide. It also helps regulate my autonomic nervous system. As for the head pillow, I never used it because it was too stimulating for my head, but recently I tried putting my feet on the pillow while sleeping on the mat and it felt really good! Now I use it only for my feet. I like it because I can massage the acupressure points on my feet which are not usually stimulated because we all wear shoes and socks all day. As for the mat, other than sleeping, my favorite way to use it is to sit on the balance ball as soon as I wake up in the morning and do some pelvic stretches while placing the mat under my feet. This stimulates my foot and wakes me up quickly. My husband likes the mat too, but how he uses is a bit different. He is 190 pounds (almost 100 pounds more than me) so it seems to hurt to lie on it (probably because of his weight?) and he says that lying on his stomach on a regular yoga mat with this mat on top of his back is just right. Either way, we both really like it.

You get what you paid for which is not much
I’ve tried something in the past and recently feel like I should get my own set so I can enjoy it at home. This one has a lot of reviews and also good rating so I decided to get this a try. When I first got it, it’s actually extremely sharp unlike what I had before. But I figured once you have even pressure over it, it wouldn’t be a big deal, just need to get use to it. Overall it’s not bad, it is slightly shaprtwr than I would like. But that’s not what I gave it a 3 star. The reason is at the material of the fabric and the foam. The fabric is extremely thin, and it’s not a good material neither. I opened up the seam and the foam is quite a joke. It’s so thin and so support at all. It’s pretty disappointing. I know this item is not expensive so if you are right on budget and don’t mind the overall quality or longevity, sure give it a try. But if you want good quality product, you might want to look somewhere else.

Clearly evil but extremely effective
Update March 2020: My love of Spikeo (affectionate name for this inanimate object) is known through all my friends, and over time many have tried it. At least 4 of my friends who have tried mine ending up buying one. Even people who think it looks terrifying have found it remarkably soothing. One thing: About a year into my relationship with Spikeo I bought another one to live at my parent’s house for when I have longer visits over the holidays. The new one was SO sharp — turns out that with daily use, the spikes get slightly dull over time. Eventually I felt like my original wasn’t packing the same punch, so bought a new one for myself about 18 months after the original purchase. My new one is gray, which is actually quite pretty and a little less garish. I would advise everyone to get new spikes every couple years or so if you want that signature OUCH with your pain relief. Original review: I have fibromyalgia and have spent hundreds of dollars on various pain remedies throughout the years. Most things haven't really helped, including physical therapy -- the only thing that would provide relief was Tylenol and scalding hot showers. This mat appears to be invented by a sadist and it definitely HURTS, but with regular use my pain has become much, much better. It also helps relieve pain when it happens, but I've found it to be more useful in reducing pain generally rather than addressing a particular pain spot. My best evidence of its effectiveness is that I get extremely thirsty after massages and the same thing happens when I lie on the mat for 20-40 minutes. I don't know what the thirst means (a quick Google says something about the lymphatic system?) but I take it as a sign that this mat actually does something for my knotted-up muscles. I love the mat so much that I made the following meme. I hope it helps in your decision on whether to purchase this.

You may want to wear clothes when using this device.
If this product helps with my lower back pain as it claims, it will be money well spent. I tried it first with a t-shirt and gem shorts but could hardly feel the prickles. Then I tried it with "less" clothes ... ouch! So, back to the shirt and shorts. I did 15 minutes, as recommended, the first time then 20 minutes. I can't tell if it did any good yet, but I'm sure it will take many more applications before I see any changes. Maybe I'll report in a few months if anything happens.
