Quality HDD
PACKING: Packing, while not great, wasn't too bad either. Mine came wrapped in a healthy amount of bubble wrap placed inside a appropriately sized cardboard box. That said, it wasn't a snug fit. The HDD had some wiggle room inside the box. More bubble wrap or perhaps some foam/thermocol would have made it even more secure. Plus, a bit more tape on the outside wouldn't have hurt. WEIGHT: Quite a bit lighter than the drive it replaced, a Seagate 1TB 7200rpm (ST31000524AS) HDD. Probably the lightest 1TB HDD I've held. SPEED: Much faster than my old Seagate HDD. I don't recall its exact speeds but the max read speeds it could hit was only about 110 MB/s with average speeds under 100 MB/s. A quick Google search shows similar results. This thing on the other hand gets close to 200 MB/s with a max read speed of 196.5 MB/s and an average read speed of 156.5 MB/s. Its lowest speed of 96 MB/s is close to what the average speed of my previous drive was. TEMPERATURES: Runs pretty cool. When I tested the HDD before installing it in my case, it was running close to 40C. After installing it in my case right in front of a 120mm fan, it sits around 34-35C. SOUND/NOISE: No clicking, grinding or any other weird sounds. Just normal HDD sounds. I would say its ever so slightly more audible than my old HDD (understandable given its much faster) but nothing that should bother anyone. Not inaudible but fairly quiet considering its a HDD. If you want total silence, buy a SSD. WARRANTY: The HDD I received was a brand new sealed unit manufactured in March 2018. Confirmed warranty by checking the serial number on Western Digital's website. But before registering the HDD, my drive was under warranty only till April 2020 which is less than 2 years from the date of purchase. After registering the HDD with the correct purchase date, it now shows close to the full 2 year warranty period. You should register your HDD on the Western Digital website the first chance you get. Sadly, both WD and Seagate offer only a measly 2 year warranty these days. My old Seagate HDD had a 5 year warranty. SUMMARY: Definite upgrade over my previous 1TB drive in terms of performance and a great complement to my Samsung 256GB SSD. PS: Short-stroke your HDDs. Look it up on Google for more info. Basically, download HD Tune, run the benchmark and see where the speed start dropping off noticeably. For a 1TB drive, its usually around 200-250GB. Make a primary partition of 200-250GB. This is the fastest area of the disk where you'll get close to the max read/write speed consistently. Put your OS/programs/games on this partition. Create a secondary partition with the remaining space and use that for storage purposes. Very handy way to get better performance especially if you don't have an SSD.

Value for money
I bought it to replace 320 GB western digital 7200 rpm caviar blue HDD of my 2010 model Dell Vostro 230 slim tower. My desktop has digitally activated copy of Windows 10. So I installed Windows 10 pro version 1803, 64 bit. On start up, the HDD made different types of sound, heavy vibrations, all unusual types of things happened. So I referred Western Digital website for troubleshooting. It was a brand new hard disk so I thought the problem somewhere else. It advised me to disconnect the data cable and switch on the computer but, I formatted the computer and reloaded it with Windows XP and made a dual boot with Linux mint 18.3.Since then it is running very silently and satisfactorily. The hard disk is imported from Thailand and slightly inferior to the original hard disk fitted with the computer but I am satisfied with the product and will recommend to anyone who is willing to run Linux or has a higher output SMPS. Mine is 250 watt.

Buy with Trust, Excellent for gaming
Seller: systemneeds Price: 4050/- Delivery: 8 days!! Package: Not good, has bubble wrapped, rest space in carton was put up with papers??? Recommended: Of course yes !!!... For gamers and computer enthusiasts About seller : The HDD was delivered after a week. And also the status of the HDD (under track) was not at all updated...Had to check with seller manually. Packing was okay. In a carton box with full of papers and HDD covered in bubble wrapper. Heard some friends bought through flipkart had tough time in this packing segment. Product review: ~~~~~~~~~~~ It has been over 3 years, 4 months since I started using this. NO ISSUES AND HICKUPS till date. Amazing performance and very perfect for gaming. The success rate of WD is generally high compared to Seagate. I have had two seagate HDD failed in less than 3 years span. This WD is marching toward 4 years and going strong. ♦ Excellent transfer speeds 50-60 MBps ♦ Works very good on dusty and unclean environment ♦ Not much of heat and sound when under full load ♦ Tested this for continuous operations over several days (without rest). ♦ Works perfectly on very hot 40 deg climate without PC cooling solutions. Typical transfer rate in windows 7 observed is 50-60 MBps. Games load very quick (slower than SSDs). You can trust and buy. Update after 30 months: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Excellent. Started with Win-7, now running Win 8, still excellent performance, no lagging or corruption of data. Several hundred hours of non-stop running, this is one hell of a solid rock...go for it... Update after 35 months: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Amazing.... Keeps up a steady 50-65 MBps with a peak of 80 MBps while copying. no noise, no excess heat or signs or wear...even though sitting on the dusty PC... no hiccup in 1080p modern gaming, nothing less to SSDs (in usage point of view). Guys, this is ultimate...don't miss if you are a PC enthusiasts...a beast...for the price you pay

No one listing for HDD replacement.
How can I give 0 star rating. First of all product didn't work even once. It's a faulty product or during your transit it got internally damaged as no bubble rep used for packaging. Secondly the image upload and query has been asked number of times but in vein, just once got msg on whats app that customer care will approach, 03 days over and still waiting. Number of times photo upload , complaints.. whom to contact for change of product or return, no info available. Hopeless situation , work is also suffering. First time i have been in this condition due to amazon or seller.

A great HDD for games and storage.
Got this for Rs. 3636 in March. You get 931 GB of available storage (remember hdd makers use 1GB = 1000GB while windows counts 1GB=1024GB hence the difference). I'm using this hard drive to storage multimedia files and games like GTA V. The loading times although not as fast as an SSD are minimal, quite better than my 6 years old Seagate HDD. I've also transferred files to internal as well as external drives and via versa, the read write speeds never disappoint. The warranty check is available on WD website and it started the same month I purchased meaning the seller recently bought this piece. Even after filling the drive to 60% capacity I did not any slowdown in performance. Even power surges didn't affect the drive at all. If you're looking for a good storage extension within this budget then go for it, if performance then look for WD Black or SSDs. Check your PC case for space as this HDD is larger in size. 5 stars for excellent HDD and early delivery by Amazon.

Not good!
I purchased this product on 7 Sep 2016. But after a years time, it started to break. I mean i listen to lot of music, and when i would use other programs or application at the same time, the music would break and it would be like a glitch. It would not play nicely, like it would break a lot when playing a music. I used one software that checks sector problems and it showed few sectors , but that was not bother some. But it did show a lot of delays. The program would show a lot of slow sectors, i do not know what that mean, but that cannot be fixed. Before this disc i was using another WD HDD it was only 320 GB, and it was solid and never had a thing like slow sectors. It ran for good 3 years, without breaking a sweat. One time i used a patched AntiMalware software and it literally crashed the disc. But this 1 TB HDD really sucks, after just 2.1/2 year it has started showing problems. I would not recommend this to other users. Better get a Internal HDD from other website but not from Amazon(India). They have really old stocks, i think that is what they are giving away or distributing. I highly would not recommend this to other users. Buy from another website.

Superb!! That's all I can say :)
It's good quality HDD from well known brand, Very Easy to install. Warranty is 2 years. Speed is more then Seagate HDD. Simply register your product on western digital website, just like I did mine, and see screenshot I have upload. It shows 757 days( approx. 2 years) warranty. Only thing I did not like is that product does not come with outer BOX. It's electronic product and back of the hard disk is simply open and easily can be damaged during transportation.

Reliable HDD brand... my old 320GB WD Drive is 8 yrs old and still working fine.
Well, i have used 2 Western Digital HDD before. A 500GB and 320GB model. The 8 year old 320GB model was too small for me these days so i upgraded to 1TB version (the product shown here). Moreover it had problems like chkdsk showed error (despite it working very fine). Maybe because of 8 yrs of torture.. haha i dont use a UPS so u can imagine the torture this HDD went through, lol. The 5 yr old 500GB model is on my home computer, its working perfect. Without a doubt or worry, or even caring to look at the ratings and reviews i bought this 1TB HDD Most reliable HDD, Western Digital Although even Seagate is good and immensely popular in USA, in India, Western Digital has best service and is most common. Every HDD in govt. offices use Western Digital. I remember my high school computer lab used only Western Digital :) And that was around 10 yrs ago. DOnt worry about 1 yr warranty or 3 yr warranty or 5 yr warranty. These things will last you 10+ years.
