Sweet little box of wonder!
Love it, but it needs better quality materials. It gets the job done. And with a 512gb memory stick, you can back up 10 or more VHS tapes. Super easy to setup. I have it hooked up to my piggie backed vcr and DVD player. Simple to bring your DVD's into digital formats. No more shuffling to find that disc to play. Great product. Now I'm going to hook up an hdmi to rca and run computer videos to backup.

Working well to transfer VHS home videos
This device is working great. I’ve so far transferred about a dozen VHS tapes to digital video with audio. Easy to use as well.The digital recording is done to a memory stick, and the device includes a small monitor. This allows me to transfer video without tying up resources on a computer. I can focus my time on the computer with video editing, and meanwhile allow the transfer to happen as the VHS tapes plays through.The recorder splits up video into 4GB segments as a default. You can also set a timer to automatically stop recording after a set period of time.The device has saved money and risk compared to sending the videos to a service to be transferred.It also works with audio only. I am planning to transfer audio cassettes, old records, and reel-to-reel as well soon. I’ll update after those are done.So far so good.

Cost and functionality just right.
Good product works very nicely. Instructions clear and understandable though sparse. I deducted one star because the screen on the video panel was EXTREMELY scratched despite having a protective cover. This might be a returned unit despite everything being sealed and appearing to be new. The remote control works at very large vertical and horizontal angles so that is a plus. Other than the scratched video screen, if my opinion is useful to you, I recommend this product.

So simple to use!
The Porta digital converter is fantastic. It easily converts any media that you can connect SVideo or RCA to digital to store on your computer, upload to YouTube, send to friends or family on thumb drive, etc. Plus gets your old family video tapes onto digital media to prevent quality loss that comes from age on magnetic tapes. I have transferred hours of VHS, Super 8 and digital 8 tapes since I received this product two weeks ago. Has been super easy! I was looking at another device by another company on Amazon that cost almost $100 more with the mindset that higher cost must come better quality and features, right? But after reviewing and comparing this device with others, this is the best value and has everything the other guys have - and more! 1080P quality, no size limit on storage device (you need to provide the storage device), supports FAT32, exFAT, NTFS format, has auto time shutoff, super easy to use! The only thing I can say would be an improvement would be have a rechargeable battery - the device must be plugged in to operate. But that is certainly not a major issue. I recommended this product without hesitation!

One good device.
Worked well. Ease to use. Camera shot function enable you to take picture directly from video as you review it. A very useful function. Highly recommended.

Unreliable performance
Easy to use. Worked for awhile them stopped working. Control panel intermittently became unresponsive. I had to return the device.

This Worked Great!
Purchased this to digitize VHS tapes and DVDs that I had previously transferred tars to. This was very simple to use and worked great. Saved hundreds of dollars compared to sending them to a company and was able to customize them to my needs. If you want to do it yourself, I highly recommend this product.

Give it a Try!
I bought this to digitize my Dad's 30+ camcorder VHS cassettes from 25yrs ago as a surprise for him. Aside from a couple times where it seemed to freeze while recording, it worked perfectly! I bought a hard drive and hooked it directly to the digitizer. As it recorded it would save to the hard drive. I then downloaded a free video-editing app and cleaned up the files. I'm not tech savvy at all and this was super easy! It's also way cheaper than sending tapes off to a company to do it for you.
