Very Handy Device
I use this in conjunction with a USB tester to check suspect USB cables. Works well, fan is quiet. Doesn't get hot enough to worry about it sitting on a bench top. Fan cycles as needed to keep it reasonably cool.

Works great. Good design. As described supports up to 3A.
As described load USB port up to 3A. Worth of money.

Solid dumb load that's good for testing 1-2A batteries and wall chargers alike
Solid dumb load that's good for testing 1-2A batteries and wall chargers alike. Draws 0.9/1.8A, not the 1/2A on the listing. Be VERY careful when handling after using for a minute or more as this gets EXTREMELY hot at over 150C/300F+. I thought this was hot enough to cause issues (besides burns) but it holds up after several hours in-use.

Search out cable & USB weak points with these power drains/test loads.
These test loads are excellent for testing various USB cables. It you have an electronic cable tester, you can put an even bigger load on you cable to check for weak points or cables that may heat up a bit so you'll know what you can trust while away. (Even though you shouldn't have power using devices operating while you're gone anyway) cheap, compact & self drain device.

Works.
If you need a specific synthetic load for testing a USB power supply, this will do the trick. The pair I ordered came attached to each other, and took a little work to break them apart. No big deal. My DMM seems to think they're doing almost exactly what they should so that's a plus.Just, one word of warning... The things gets (unavoidably) HOT quick so don't touch the underside with your bare fingers if you can help it.

works, cheap, but very hot.
These work as expected and are very cheap. Beware: they get very hot! If you can afford a couple of more dollars, get one of the variable ones with a fan.

Very consistent constant current. Just what I needed.
This load tester works great for use with USB meters that can test cables like the ct-3. I was struggling to test cables until I used this USB load tester. It works exactly as you would expect. The current is very consistent which is a requirement for testing cables with usb meters that can do that. The only thing that would make it better is a case so I created a snap fit case for this. If you have a 3d printer, you can get the stl files as I made them freely available on the Printables website. Just search for 'USB Load Tester Constant Current Snap-Fit Case (15 Watt)'.

It is now my duty to completely drain you...
As far as I know this thing only has one real use, and that's to combine it with a USB meter to drain USB power packs and measure their true capacities. That's what I used mine for, and it worked great. The built-in fan does a decent job of dissipating heat.
