Be Smart Pay Zero Taxes: Use the Buy, Borrow, Die Strategy to Get Rich and Stay Rich Review: Fun easy to read way to see how the wealthy stay wealthy - Mark Quann’s Be Smart Pay Zero Taxes is an eye-opening, engaging, and highly informative guide that challenges everything most of us think we know about taxes, wealth, and the financial system. With his "Buy, Borrow, Die" strategy, Quann presents a bold new way to build and preserve wealth—legally and ethically—while minimizing tax liability. One of the things that really stands out about this book is how approachable and enjoyable it is to read. Quann has a knack for breaking down complex financial concepts into bite-sized, digestible pieces. Whether you're a finance newbie or have been managing your own portfolio for years, you'll find the material easy to grasp and even fun to read. The tone is conversational, and the author's humor and wit shine through, making the book a far cry from the dry, overly technical finance books out there. What I loved most was how Quann exposes the ways in which the banking industry and the government have duped ordinary people into believing we have no choice but to pay exorbitant taxes. He takes a deep dive into the financial system and reveals how the wealthiest individuals have been using clever strategies for years to legally avoid paying significant taxes. The “Buy, Borrow, Die” method isn’t just some gimmick; it’s a smart and effective way to sidestep the tax traps most of us fall into. Quann’s perspective will make you question everything from your investment strategies to the way you think about saving and building wealth. This book empowers you with a strategy that not only helps you protect your wealth but also ensures that you're making the most of what you've worked so hard for. By the end, you’ll realize that we’ve been sold a false narrative about taxes and money, and there’s a much smarter way to approach wealth-building. Overall, Be Smart Pay Zero Taxes is a must-read for anyone who wants to get ahead financially. It’s a wake-up call wrapped in a fun and easy-to-read package. If you're ready to take control of your financial future and start building wealth like the ultra-wealthy, this book is the perfect place to start. Highly recommended! Review: Life-Changing and Eye-Opening - Be Smart and Pay Zero Taxes by Mark Quann is truly a game changer. The strategies and insights he shares are not only practical but also empowering—helping you see money and taxes the way the wealthy do. What I loved most is how clearly the concepts are explained. This isn’t just another financial book full of theory; it’s packed with actionable information that can genuinely change the way you approach wealth building. The advice is brilliant, simple to follow, and incredibly valuable for anyone who wants to take control of their financial future. Inflation will keep growing and so will taxes. YOU NEED TO PLAN AND ACT NOW OR YOUR BLOODLINE WILL BE DOOMED TO POVERTY. Reading this book has opened my mind to new ways of thinking about money, taxes, and wealth—things I wish I had learned years ago. If you’re serious about financial freedom, I highly recommend this book.

4.5 Stars - Highly Recommend- Will Buy Copies for My Kids
I was torn between 4 and 5 stars, because this book is very good. The pay no taxes part of the book is a solid 5 stars. However, I was much more interested in the buy, borrow, die strategies. Those strategies are good, including a fairly thorough explanation and use cases. But there wasn't enough explanation of the long-term handling of the debt and the possibility of margin calls. If you leverage 50% of your portfolio and the market goes down 30 to 35%, which does happen, you can quickly get in trouble. Many of the current ETFs that pay high dividends haven't been around long enough to go through a 30 - 35% market drop, so it's difficult to accurately predict how they'll perform. Of course, if you don't overleverage, the chances of a margin call are much lower, even if the market tanks. Also, the book says to invest in assets you can borrow against, including stock, ETFs, real estate, crypto, and gold/silver. On the surface, this is a good strategy. While you can borrow against these things, borrowing against precious metals carries a higher interest rate (though I'm sure if you have tens of millions, you can find better rates, but most people don't have that much), and borrowing against crypto is dangerous. Hopefully crypto will become better protected, but right now, the company lending you money against your crypto can just run off with your crypto. It has happened. The reason I rated the book 4 stars instead of 5 is solely because I'm more interested in buy, borrow, die than the tax coverage. If I bought the book for the tax avoidance, it would be a 5. Overall, I highly recommend the book. I'm going to buy a copy for both of my children, who are in their 20's.

A must read
Excellent information. Wish I had this when I was younger. Easy to understand. I got two more for my kids. Hopefully they will follow what the author recommends.

Breaking free from the old traditional financial education.
This book is one of most insightful and easy to read financial books I've read yet. The author (Mark Quann), drops his financial education to a layman's level of comprehension, it makes the information presented easily absorbed and relatable. The book serves as a blue print to financial freedom through various strategies outlined in all of its chapters. It’s a must read for anyone who is looking to break free from the old traditional financial education we've been taught all our lives and not making any headway.

Not for everyone
I have read a pile of investing books, and thought I would see what the big idea was here. It is, when you need money, do not sell stocks, but instead take out a loan. Over and over for the rest of your life. Settle up after you die. Since you do not sell, you will not incur capital gains taxes. But you will run up a lot of debt. My wife and I were not ok doing that. If you want to follow a plan like this, go for it.

This book is mainly written for people who live in the USA. The 2 companies he recommends for opening up a brokerage account where you can invest and borrow with the push of a button do not take Canadian customers. Also the taxation system in the USA is very different from ours. I heard about this book on a Canadian program and that’s why I purchased it. Disappointing.
