Works great. I will update review for longevity but I suggest getting a glass and put an inch of clean water in it. Keep the sensor immersed in clean water when not in use. The automatic pool controllers sensors look a lot like these and if they dry out they oxidize and lose their minds within days. If you do feel like it has lost accuracy the way to clean the automatic ones is a clean toothbrush and clean water... try same procedure. Like I said, I will update over time but so far it saves do much time just getting an instant read.

The tester was very easy to use, and very accurate. I compared the salt readings I got with the tester with the salt test at my local pool shop and they were the same. It's a good unit, accurate, and very easy to use. I'd recommend it for anyone that has a salt water pool or any pool.

It is easy to use out of the box. It is very consistent with the salt level readings (I double-checked with a chemical tester and the difference was less than 100ppm, which is fine to check salt levels for a pool with a salt chlorinator). So worth to do salt level measuring - takes a few seconds and reliable. As for pH, you have to calibrate it frequently (it comes with the powder to do the calibrations), but becomes a hassle to calibrate and you never know if it is calibrate it or not. So I use the chemicals to measure pH (just more reliable and consistent over time).

I bought this device primarily to calibrate the chlorine generator on my salt water pool. It certainly was easy to set up and use. Just follow the directions at first, going ahead with the calibration process. Then rinse the tip with DISTILLED WATER after each us, allow it to dry, an replace the protective cap. Don't touch the contacts or glass bulb on the tip of the device and don't drop it. If you are careful with it, I imagine this will last a very long time. It seems quite accurate, including taking salinity, pH, and temperature readings. I'm not sure how safe it would be for something that is critical like a salt water fish tank, but for a salt water swimming pool, this device is super, at least so far!

The ease of use of this meter for ph and salt levels as opposed to doing the chemical drop and color comparisons for ph alone is worth the cost of this product. However, as with any diagnostic test equipment, you have to have faith that readings you get from it are accurate. After repeated high ph readings with this meter and adding acid based on those readings, I finally began to suspect the meter was not reading the ph correctly. I then perfomed the chemical drop and color comparison test and got a reading of 7.2 as opposed to an average meter reading of 9.1. So, I decided to recalibrate the meter per the instructions using buffer packages included with the meter. The meter would not calibrate to the 6.8 buffer but read 9.18 which is one of the buffer test solutions. So I used andother pack of 6.8 buffer and got the same 9.18 reading. Conclusion is either the buffer packages are not right or the meter's calibration program is not working. Regardless, after just a couple of months of use, this meter is worthless to me because I have no faith in the readings. This was my second meter of this brand (first one got lost during the winter)and I really depended on it for my daily checks on ph and sale. Dissapointing!

Normally I would get a small I stick with units marked on it, you get an inch of water or two inches you place this salt stick in water and wait until the top line turns dark, then you look at the units on it and read the corresponding number on back of bottle to get your % of salt in pool. That tells me if I need to add more salt to the pool water. That is a pain-in the butt. So I found this electronic device on amazon and you get a small amount of pool water, turn on the device, set the device to salt and read it so fast and easy beats the stupid stick. It is not very expensive and it also reads the ph so you know if you need to balance the water. Excellent device

Very good product to check the pH and salt readings of your hot tub water. Recommended to me by my hot tub dealer because I asked for a more accurate pH measurement beyond the dip strips. Very clear instructions. You basically just dip and read a digital number. Comes with additional materials to calibrate your readers if ever necessary, but rinse with clean (not pool/tub) water afterward and you should be fine. A very well made unit at an amazingly cheap price. I have used professional Lab meters and am familiar with pH & other electronic meters during my career. This one exceeds my needs & expectations. Self calibrating and maintains it's accuracy over relatively long periods.
