Very simple guitar, intended for beginners, but it can be set up for intermediate or even pro players. For the money, it is fairly well-made and it sounds really good. It is nice and light. The neck is pretty fast. The tuners feel cheap but they work. The vibrato bridge works well. The pickups actually sound pretty punchy and warm. It could be used as a backup instrument in live performance. I bought mine on Amazon prime deal day and I got it for $51. Once I set it up and put quality strings on it, I had a very playable little axe.

My original review was a one star review based on having received multiple guitars that had to be returned. You can read those reviews below. A Ktaxon representative reached out to me after I posted my reviews, which impressed me from a customer service perspective. I had been really attracted to the Blue Ocean guitar and decided to give them another chance. I have edited this review to three stars as a result because I'm very happy with this guitar. There were no finish problems or blemishes (it's a very attractive guitar), and everything worked and was within spec. I oiled the fret board, tuned the strings, and that was all it needed so I really like this guitar. Good job winning me back Ktaxon! My guitar showed up with a crooked milling on the head stock and neck, looking like a manufacturing defect of some sort. I never bothered tuning the strings, when I saw the problem I just packed it back up and returned it. A replacement is on the way so fingers crossed that it's better than this one. Update, the replacement showed up with a blob of glue on the fret board as in the second photo, and a paint bubble in the body. I sent the both back for a refund so rating this one star.

Received guitar today earlier then expected thats a plus finish on guitar and lighting strikes are awesome looks good guitar needed some tlc out of box since I do my own setups and repair was not a issue especially since I bought it on cyber Monday price was worth it had to fine sand the neck had some rough spots on it i lowered the string nut was a little to high with makes cording a pain lowered the bridge was to high not seated all the down adjusted truss rod with a little relief and lowered the saddles strings were too high and polished the fret and file sharp fret ends and some other minor tweaking pickups sound good i would of liked a black tip on tremolo arm or solid the white does not really go but it is a good beginner guitar for the price just as long as you know someone or you can do it yourself setups price for setups is expensive guitar will be a good mod guitar

I honestly expected a hot mess when I ordered this. I was pretty surprised when i got it. Guitar looks nice. No blemishes that i can see with a quick look over. No slop in the tuners. Pick-ups don't sound bad. Neck is surprisingly straight. I don't even have to adjust the truss rod. I haven't changed the strings yet so I'm figuring I'll need to level and polish the frets which i expect to do at this price point. My only real issue is the nut. It's obviously plastic and it's thin. Maybe half as thick as a regular nut. There are still plastic shavings on the back side as it was cut but the curls weren't cleaned off. I'll either have to widen the nut channel or sand down a new nut to fit. I don't think they even sell nuts this thin. That's my only real complaint. I bought it for a friend's kid to learn so at this point it's not absolutely imperative it gets changed now. It's a $60 guitar. There's no way i would expect it to be perfect for that price and I'm definitely not sending it back over one trivial item. Also the nut looks crooked but it's not. It's the angle of the fretboard behind the nut that makes it look crooked like one of the pictures someone posted. I'd definitely buy this for someone's first guitar. If they don't take to it no big loss. Ok, after cleaning the nut up and i had to level 3-4 frets, crowned and polished. Changed the strings and when I went to intonate it it was really close to spot on. I have better guitars that the intonation was more off. All in all I'm pretty impressed.
