Personal experience about product with all details!!!
I previously bought a Hive thermostat, but unfortunately it wasn’t very compatible with my boiler. The system came in three separate boxes: one connected via cable to the Wi-Fi receiver, one installed next to the boiler, and another unit connected to that. All three units had to work together, but the connection kept dropping and it became very frustrating. Later, I researched which thermostat would be most suitable for my boiler and Tado was recommended as the top option. I decided to trust that recommendation and purchased it — and I’m really glad I did. The installation process is incredibly easy. This is actually the first time I’ve ever written a product review, but I felt it was worth it. Right from the initial setup, after downloading the app, it guides you step by step: it asks which cables were connected to your old boiler system and then clearly explains exactly where each cable should be connected on the new Tado transmitter. This level of guidance makes installation very straightforward, even if you’re not technical. The app itself is very user-friendly. You can set detailed schedules hour by hour, and everything can be controlled from your phone. There is also an AI-based feature available through the app. This AI package is paid, which was a slight disappointment, but it’s not essential. If you choose to use it, it offers location-based control — the heating turns on automatically as you approach home, so you don’t need to do anything manually. Overall, the system works extremely stably. The interface is simple and clean. On the thermostat itself, you only see the room temperature and the target temperature — nothing confusing, no unnecessary buttons. All advanced control is handled through the app. The Wi-Fi receiver is integrated into the control unit installed next to the boiler, which is very convenient. All necessary cables and mounting accessories are included in the box. In short: very simple, very easy to use, and very practical. I’m extremely satisfied with this product. Thank you.

Great replacement for Nest and super easy to fit.
After the debacle of Google pulling the plug on Nest Generation 1 I decided that my next purchase would not be from Nest and opted for the Thermostat X and I am absolutely delighted with my purchase. We packaged, looks good and never have I known such a helpful and easy to follow installation process. Everything explained page by page on the app and never once was I left to feel that this was not a job for a person with basic DIY skills. Took less that 30 mins and now works perfectly with our combi boiler. I gather that if you want to geofence and use the full capabilities of the system it does cost £30 a year but do I need that? The truth is a resounding 'NO'. There are lots of schedules and things you can do without all of that. It also sits perfectly with our Alexa if we need and we can add radiator thermostats etc. To me I am happy with my purchase and just hope that tado don't do a Nest in the coming years. Great value for money and recommended for anyone happy to follow the excellent fitting instructions.

Absolute Rubbish!
Absolute rubbish! The so called smart thermostat can't read temperature and you have to use a separate thermometer to work out the offset for it to read correctly. Then once you have gone through all that and set the desired temperature say 21 degrees when the room gets to 21 degrees the heating stays on for around another degree. I use an oil boiler and ended up using around a litre more oil a day using this rubbish. So gone back to my old Next thermostat which can tell the temperature and even turns the heating off at the set temperature...go figure!

It works and a quick DIY install on a gravity fed system
I have a really old gravity fed boiler (old as in design, the boiler is actually only 1 year old) that is oil fired and non condensing, tied to a Randall 3020 mechanical controller as old as the hills with no wired thermostat. I wanted to get smart so the heater controls can be quickly and remotely set, timed or switched on or off. It's part of an eco drive where solar was installed this year so on those good solar days it makes sense to heat water with solar energy and on bad solar days to instead, heat water using the boiler. I worked out that by utilising the immersion heater more in the good solar months I'll save over £400 a year in heating oil. The solar installation is remotely app monitored and controlled so now it was the boilers turn. There is decent documentation supplied with the Tado but for some reason, gravity fed installations are the only setup not covered in their wiring diagrams. So I joined a plumbers forum and scoured the Tado community pages and got there in the end. I've been helpful to others and attached a wiring diagram for a gravity boiler with external pump for the central heating. The hot water wire from the controller is the live feed to the CH pump. I have read that the range on the network bridge isn't fantastic so for my setup of one thermostat and one controller in the V3+ kit I kept everything close. The instructions say to plug the bridge into your router but in my placement the router is a long way off and the home network runs on a DLAN setup. The DLAN plugs have ethernet ports so I plugged the bridge into the DLAN and it found the network settings fine from that location. So then pairing with the thermostat was easy and straightforward, per the instructions. I then switched on the controller and set the programme up to gravity feed (blue LED) which reverts to white after half a minute. Pairing caused a bit of an issue. The instructions failed to mention that you needed to prime the bridge for a new pairing with each added component. Once I did activate the bridge to seek out mode it found the controller straight away. With the Tado phone app you do need to set up an account and refuse all kinds of unhealthy 'improvements' access. The app works well and offers a lot of flexibility: You can switch on the heating and set the desired temperature or have that programmed daily or weekly. You can set different programming for when at home or when away from home. You can turn it off completely. With the hot water, you can operate that independently and set timing schedules for on and off or also switch it off entirely. I've noticed the boiler cycles more often on the Tado controller than it did on the Randall 3020. Reading around this seems to be a deliberate function to save energy so that heating inputs can be assessed before firing up the boiler again for more input. Early days - only 6 hours in, but I am now app enabled on all our energy inputs so I can switch easily and quickly and change settings as required around sunny day or cloudy day solar output. UPDATE - Now 3 months in and all has been good with the Tado system. It is quick to respond to input changes from either the phone app or desktop account and has maintained a stable network connection throughout. Having access to the settings to hand probably has reduced the time the boiler is active by 30% in part aided by us dropping the set temperature by 1C and not feeling any difference. The way the unit maintains a temperature over the old mechanical on or off unit that we had seems to make the home more comfortable at the lower target temperature. As the cooler evenings come in with the onset of Autumn then the use of the immersion has all but ended as the central heating is now required and with a gravity system, central heating on means that water heating is also on. So we have plenty of hot water available from a home heat cycle to 19C in the early morning and then again in the early evening when we raise the temperature to 20C. The unit is then set to 17C overnight.

I rarely take the time to write reviews, but this product is so superb that it deserves a 5*. I previously had other WiFi thermostats, a bit low budget, and after some frustration around the app, I decided to spend a bit more and bought 7 Tado + a bridge. Installation takes minutes and it's a breeze. You can customise many things. Works seamlessly. App UI is very easy to navigate with some super useful buttons, such as Boost and All Off. You can offset the temperature in each room for more accurate measurements. And much more. All in all, it took 10mins to set up all 6 thermostats and the app, and after a week, I am very happy I purchased this and strongly recommend it.
