Texas Instruments IIBAPL/TBL/3E2 Advanced Financial Calculator BAII Plus

Required to purchase this calculator as part of my CFA qualification. Initially a bit difficult to use, with one drawback being unable to see all inputs in one go when entering (compared to scientific calculators for example). However, as you get used to the calculator's functions and specific use in statistics / time-value-of-money calculations, it does become very useful and the store/recall memory buttons become your best friend when undertaking lengthy calculations. I'd only recommend using this calculator for these specific scenarios, otherwise for everyday basic calculations, just use other conventional calculators.

I bought this calculator to use with my financial services exams, to work out compound interest calculations mainly which it is perfect for. I agree with another reviewer that you do need to know how these calculations work manually before expecting the calculator to do it for you, as nothing comes with the calculator to explain how to do this. That said, I googled this calculator and very quickly found a comprehensive manual which was free to download which explains in depth how each of the calculations it can do works. All in all excellent value for money compared with many more expensive ones, which do little more if any than this one does.

Best choice for the CFA - not necessarily because of the quality which is ok (some of the reviews talk about the buttons not being as responsive as one would hope) but because most of the CFA and Schweser material use this calculator as the stock one in their examples

Fantastic price since I purchased used on Amazon and confident since I am covered with their customer support. I have used it daily for over a month including most 2nd functions, memory storage, time value of money functionality, and cash flow functionality and have had no hardware or software problems at all. The factor calculator retail box inside the shipping container was a bit faded on the outside but I always bin calculator retail packaging from the outset so not an issue at all. Recommended.

This calculator has some excellent functionality with saving cash flow numbers, making it easy and a time hack to do NPV and IRR calculations. Whereas some calculators, you have to put in the values every single time.

Still learning how to use it, but it looks like a great product. Not sure how can I change the batteries later... I will add another comment for that.

Expensive for the functionality of the calculator. Understand that this is the required calculator for the CFA exam. The keys are not that sensitive so end up having to press keys twice or press down very firmly for it to recognise the input.
