i'm glad that I double checked the listing before using the pizza stone, I'd have probably attempted to season with oil and the listing clearly says you shouldn't with this stone. You also have to be mindful of how you clean the stone and how you preheat the stone. That being said, if I'm not in a hurry, using this stone does seem to enhance the flavor and texture of even cheap frozen pizzas, so it is nice to have around when I remember to use it.

Stone arrived in one piece. It was well-packed (in not-so-environmentally-friendly styrofoam if that is important to youI. I made pizza Neapolitan on this stone and it worked out great. Pizza dough size was about 250 grams each. We fired up our grill to between 850 and 900 degrees F with the stone inside. You must preheat baking stones to use them! If you don't, whatever you are making will stick. When hot we slid the pizza off the peel and onto the stone. Pizza was done in a couple of minutes (in the photo above the top looks undone but it was perfect in another minute or two!). Great cornicione, great browning of the bottom. Do not let water splash on a hot stone or it may break. The listing says the stone is "easy to clean" but don't expect any baking stone to get clean. You don't need to wash your stone, just scrape off any food with a spatula. Baking stones always look used and that is ok! We had no breakage, and no issues with this baking stone. I don't see any reason to take away any stars. I will also use it for baking loaves of bread.

If you are cooking pizza at home you want to get the oven really hot and the surface of the baking stone will help with cooking your pizza at the desired temperature. The stone is made out of Cordierite. The ad says that it’s heat resistant up to 1450 degrees F. I don’t think that my oven can get that high. To clean, you’re suppose to wipe it off with a dry cloth and not use soap or detergent or water. The one I got is 12 inches in diameter which is on the smaller size and is probably not big enough for a family but if you’re just cooking for yourself or another person then it’s perfect. I’m impressed by how it heats up and cook the bottom of the pizza evenly.

There are no instructions with this product, which is a major negative. At least give some instructions to people so that they can use it. So when you use a pizza stone, you need to put the stone in the oven at 500°F for about 30-45 minutes. If you have a frozen pizza, you should leave it on the counter this entire time to ensure you are not putting a frozen pizza on your stone. After preheating the stone, then turn the temperature down to the stated temperature and cook your pizza. Because the stone blocks the heat somewhat, you will have to keep an eye on the cooking time until you get the hang of it, but it will not match what's written on the package. Pizza stones are amazing for homemade pizza to give that proper crust that you would otherwise lack. But the lack of any instructions just makes me rate this a 4. Other than that, it seems like a pretty quality item for this price.

After making my own pizza dough from scratch for a few months, I decided to order this stone to up my pizza game. Most of the recipe blogs I follow and use for my pizza dough recipes have instructions for baking with and without a pizza stone. They are two different sets of instructions. This is why I agree with the other reviews mentioning the lack of instructions and/or care for a pizza stone (The care is similar to that of cast iron). The price is about average compared to other pizza stones of this size on Amazon ($22 for the 12” size at the time of writing this review). Overall, I’m glad I have this but have used others in the past that are both larger and better quality.
