A paper loop and hook strap holds the shell closed, so no need to string or twine to reinforce it. An inner cloth bag prevents ashes from falling out. Plenty of room for ashes of a mid-sized adult. Guests were able to write farewells on the outside. We set it in the water from a sea kayak. My only complaint is that it stood on end in the water; I was expecting it to float on its back before sinking. Maybe if you shake it from side to side to evenly distribute the ashes it would float properly. It sank in about two minutes.

I have had experience with these type of water soluble "urns". They are absolutely perfect if you want your loved one placed into the ocean, a lake or buried. Very nice looking and will do what is intended. It is totally earth friendly and it will not put any wildlife at risk. I am putting my affairs in order and this purchase is for me. Waaaay down the road, I will find myself catching the flow of the ocean and traveling the world for eternity. This Seller is terrific to work with.

We used this urn for a burial at sea for my daughter. She passed away on June 17, 2020, and one year later, we decided she would be at peace in the ocean (She LOVED the beach). The urn is very sturdy, easy to open and close, and contains the biodegradable plastic bag (with instructions) for the ashes. You can tie raffia or other biodegradable ribbon around the urn and add fresh or dried flowers to make it more personalized. We used bright pink Oleander flowers, which grow around the resort we always visited as a family.As far as the size - YES it will fit an adult. Emily Rose was 120 lbs (age 23). Also, there was enough room to include a few trinkets (biodegradable, of course). We included some dried rose petals, a butterfly made from feathers, a starfish, and some clipped fur from her favorite cat.The urn was gently placed into the ocean, floated (with some rose petals we set into the water around her), floated around 20 minutes, then gently sank. It was a perfect send-off for my girl who loved riding the waves.

This biodegradable urn arrived on time as promised. The quality is excellent. It is strong but has a lightness and grace. The color purple is very pretty. We used it for my daughter’s ashes, it floated momentarily and gently left our view. I would give it 5 stars had the liner not been missing. I contacted the company directly and a replacement liner was rushed to me. The woman who handled that was very sensitive to the situation and immediately remedied it. I would purchase again.

I bought this for my brother’s ash burial at sea. It was perfect. Looked beautiful and elegant. I am very happy with the product.
