Do yourself a favor and just buy it. You will thank me late7.
I have owned many BT portable DAC amps in the past including its older brother the BTR7. The BTR17 is a massive upgrade sonically (Desktop mode is a beast) as well as user experience. I use it with my HD600s, my HD490 pros. as well as my friends HD800d\d set with authority, Needless to say, it drove all of my iems with no problems whatsoever. It even drove my flathead set that has an impedance of 600 ohms, it had no trouble at all. As far as Sound signature will start with the base. The base is tight and punchy and well controlled. The med base is much sustain the red dry job describe it mostly neutral. In the offer meds and travel bow to the base nicely and the upper travel is very polished with lots of detail retrieval. It’s a very balanced fun team. It’s the best way I know how to describe it. It has an audio file tendencies. The Bluetooth connection is stacked to the line. I hardly hear any difference at all between that and wire mode. All the software works perfectly under iOS after you do the update when you get there unit. I cannot recommend this Bluetooth back enough punches well about it twice and worth every penny.

Overall Excellent
Bit of a preamble. I'm not one to prefer Bluetooth, and in fact I usually don't. Speaker technology has advanced so that even $20 earbuds from the right brand can sound amazing out of the right source, but when you try to stuff a Bluetooth radio, micro controllers, a dac/amp, buttons/controls, battery in a package that fits in something the size of a gumball, things get rough. Bluetooth hissing that's usually hidden by cutting power to the amp when audio isn't playing, issues with the dac output being low resolution, you name it.In short, this device is amazing, because it solves all that. Good quality Bluetooth hardware in a pocketable form factor. You technically have a cable, but if you care how your music sounds this won't matter- it's not tethered to the source device after all. This outclasses every Bluetooth earbuds I've ever used even when paired with aforementioned $20 bargain buds from a good brand, and I've had the likes of Sony XM4 and others in that class. No ANC naturally, but certain IEMs or even over ears can easily work like plain old ear plugs and when the music starts the world disappears anyway.Battery life is quite good so far. Nonstop use for three hours on the LDAC codec and only down 80% on the first few runs. Will speak more on this as time goes on.Pair that kind of wireless performance with the ability to wire this in as a wired DAC(not to mention the microphone so you can take calls even on HD600s without needing to get a potentially problematic inline mic cable), and it's all around the perfect device to get Bluetooth conveniences on any headset, or even just to wire in and improve your laptop's sound output. I view it as a swiss army knife of portable audio, and as someone that can't buy most Bluetooth headsets within ending up unhappy, I fully recommend this. Regular Bluetooth headsets live and die by their batteries, but this can be permanently wired in as a USB DAC should its battery suffer the same fate.

Gives you a lot of range and has all of the latest codecs.
This works really well, I am not saying that they will make crappy earbuds sound better, but they are able to drive pretty much all my earbuds, and my Focal Elegia, and give me freedom from a wired attachment. The device is not tiny, its pretty large for a portable headphone amp. It makes up for it in features, and clear controls. It's battery life seems to be great, but I have not sat with it on for 8 hours, so I can't speak to it's claims. I do like it though and the blue color looks great, and the "leather" cover works as protection, to keep it from getting scratched up.

Great improvement over the BTR 7
I own both this unit (BTR 17) and the BTR7, and this is a massive upgrade. Not just the overall DAC and sound quality, but the usability and interface make it worth the upgrade. The addition of the dial/volume scroll makes navigating, changing tracks, and EQ 100 times better. As far as the sound quality goes, it's amazing. I have my HIFIMAN Mini Shangri-La connected to it and it sounds amazing. I've done multiple A-B test listening to the same track directly from vinyl vs through the BTR17 and it holds up surprisingly well.Vinyl is definitely clearer and more transparent, but the BTR17 adds a very enjoyable warmth and bassiness that is more enjoyable in a lot of cases.

Will not connect to LDAC on my Samsung S22 ultra or any LDAC transmitter I own
My BTR5 and BTR7 has no issues. My AKG iems have no issue. My Sony xm4s have no issue. My Qudelix 5k has no issues. No matter what I do I cannot get LDAC to connect properly only on this device. This is hot trash. DO NOT BUY. If I disable all the codecs besides LDAC in the APP (which I shouldn't have to do as my phone is set up to default LDAC output for bluetooth) it will resort to SBC. It resorts to the lowest tier codec that it can do with the phone. Since I cannot disable SBC then that's what I'm stuck with unless I use APTX. The best I can do is connect to APTX which is nowhere near LDAC quality. What's the point of this device? This is several steps BACKWARDS. How to you mess up something that was never an issue before FIIO? This is the first trash product I've purchased from FIIO after several purchases. If you can't dial in LDAC on your devices I don't trust you anymore. I'll be looking to spend more money on something that doesn't have these issues. Basically, if it works great. If not, you're screwed.
