better than i expected
works very well. took a bit to figure out how to fit it all together and get the fans on, but once i did i knew it was the right choice to buy this one. the 1st setting on it is probably what ill always have it at since it works so well. id probably never go above the 2nd option. now u will look like a marshmellow but me personally i dont care at all. if ur looking into getting a jacket like this, definitely go with this one

Wonderful jacket, with just a couple minor sniggles. Please read for important use advice.
I recall the first time I ever saw one of these jackets, back in Japan about 20 years ago. The workers wearing them were out in the hot sun, digging and moving heavy materials around, yet seemed largely unphased by the heat, despite appearing at first glance as if they were all wearing what looked like down jackets. I noticed this right away, but also noticed the fans on the lower backs, and put two and two together. I did a little research, and discovered that these were a new invention at the time and only available in Japan. Fast forward two decades and they are finally available here in the US. As I now live in northern Illinois and am an avid gardener, I needed something to help cool me off in the hot, summer humid summer weather, and researched the various options I could find, and chose this particular model which is made by a Japanese company, and bought it. The quality of the jacket itself is top notch. Only one minor negative, is that it has no hanging loop in the collar, so it does need to be hung on a coat hanger, which is not how I would normally hang it as I have coat hooks at my entry where I would normally hang it. The battery is solid and well made, and the fans and power cords appear well made and should last a long time. A nice added feature is that the fans are easy to clean by just taking them out, and wiping dust off the blades as needed. Okay, now the important use advice: There is a mesh pouch in the middle of the lower back which is designed to hold an ice pack. If it is hot when you use this, as opposed to just warm, take advantage of this pouch, put a frozen ice pack in there, and turn the fans up to a higher speed. It may seem like it wouldn't do much, but I can tell you that would be a wrong assumption. It made a significant difference in my usage. Also, an added bit of advice is to also wear a floppy jungle style sun hat with a neck flap (I have one with a mosquito net that can be rolled up and hidden under a cover on the top when not needed), as the neck flap will direct the air exhausting up the back around your neck and the back of your head. As I keep my hair cropped short, it keeps my head very comfortable and helps to keep me from sweating at my brow as much as I otherwise would. The only two suggestions I would make to the manufacturer would be to add some sort of dust filter to go over the fan intakes, and a hanging loop on the inside of the neck would be great. Otherwise, I think it's great. Oh, one more thing. I haven't tried this, but I think this would work great as well. If the climate is really hot where you are, consider trying a cooling vest, which circulates cooled water through tubes close to the skin to help keep the core temp down, and wear it under this jacket. The combination would surely be the best of both cool on the skin and constant ventilation. May seem like overkill, but it's better than heat stroke! As for the comments from other other that you look like a marshmallow. I don't think that is true. It does fully puff up at higher fan speeds, but not so much to look that big. It just looks like an insulated jacket, and wearing a jacket in the hot sun already looks a little off, but who cares? It's comfortable and keeps you cooler, the sun off, and the insects away. Win, win, win!

Effective but Impractical
The jacket does keep you cool when wearing it, but one does look and feel a bit ridiculous while wearing it. The fans are loud and create a “marshmallow man” like appearance. Most likely to be worn while sitting and watching a kids’ sporting event.

Works surprisingly well.
I was skeptical whether this would be effective in hot, humid Florida weather. The idea of putting on a jacket was counter-intuitive. I had considered getting a waist fan instead, so I could attach it on my belt and let it blow under my shirt. But I was able to try this jacket in an L-size instead. The jacket, fans, and battery pack are all very well-made. All of the pieces were neatly packaged, and the instructions were good. I was happily surprised that the styling, fit, and tailoring of this jacket looks nice. It seems to have a water-resistant coating on the fabric too. I normally wear XL clothing, so I was also happy the L size fit me very well. On the back, each side has a reinforced hole where the fans are screwed in. Some people may think it looks silly, but I don’t care, because my objective is to feel cool, not look cool. There are some elastic bands which serve as wire guides, and the power pack can be carried within an interior pocket. The power pack has a single button to control fan speed and check battery charge. I like how the jacket inflates when the fan is set to high speeds. That is extra useful for me to keep cool while working in Florida, because ordinarily, I would have to coat all of my exposed skin with mosquito repellent. The jacket allows less exposed skin, so there are fewer places that mosquitoes can bite and less opportunity for sunburn. And the air which blows out of the jacket’s cuffs, neck, and hem is strong enough to blow mosquitoes off course. The result is this silly looking contraption keeps me cool, prevents me from getting bitten, and prevents sunburn !
